Whilst on the subject "Nutty Park", can anyone tell me the story of where this name came from?
I'm sorry if its a stupid question but i'm curious. Maybe I'm not the only one![

Looked at my old post on this back in 2009,googling the name comes up with a 9 hole crazy golf course in Patong,so presumably originally it had 9 bars and the people in them and running them were all crazy  :-k

Maybe it should be renamed Mellow Park :-k 8)

There is a story behind the name. I just can't remember it. I read something (sometime back) about it. I seem to recall that it's origin was based on Thai words (name) and eventually mutated into Nutty Park. Not sure about this, but I also think, that, at least for a while, the word "naughty" was part of the name. If I remember correctly, naughty was deemed to be a bit too suggestive and that was when it was changed to Nutty.

I've searched for the article but to no avail. I'm pretty sure I read it within the past couple of years. I know this does not answer the question about the name but perhaps it will jog someone else's memory who might be able to shed more light on it. Alchai's question does have an answer.

Of course, I could be completely out in left field and just imagining things, as my ageing brain is capable of doing.

That explanation works for me Shado.

But I`m more curious about where the word "park" comes into the equation :?

You might be on to something here Shado. I cant`t read thai but assume you mean bpaak (low tone) ie mouth. In thai, the beginning of a soi is referred to as bpaak soi - mouth of the soi.

Is there a thai sign at the entrance to the nauhgty mouth?

Actually, ปาร์ค (bpaak) is a loan word. Thai pronounciation of the English word park.
