O-A Extension of Ret. Visa, yeterday.

Postby marshbags » June 3, 2010, 8:27 am

Back at the beginning of March, I inadvertenly extracted funds from the wrong acc. online and went below 800K by 16K.

I thought i,d perhaps manage to get me renewal, being the third month after putting the funds back when realising what had happened.

It was ok,d by the officer on the desk and he issued my renewal and forwarded to the inspector for approval and the usual signature.

I was called into his office and he rightly pointed out a break in the qualifying period of 2 weeks asked for an explanation and informed me that It is a qualifying period of ninety days plus one and as I was not, I therefore being granted my visa at this time.

They cancelled the paperwork ect. and cancelled the new entries in my passport, one for my visa and another I always get for emergency exit, a re entry permit.

2 pages wasted, oh well.

They were friendly about it all and as usual very polite towards me like always at the new office.

Told me to come back just before my existing one actually runs out at the beginning of next month, get a new letter from the bank and updated page information before returning.

Oh well, no problem and I accept responsiblity for it.

Just a heads up to others to make sure if you have deposited the required funds 90 days clear before going for your respective visa,s.

New ones of course only have to be in for 60 days.

I too was in there yesterday. Saw someone getting his money back, wondered what was going on .
The attached doesn't actually say the whole amount of money must be in the bank for any period prior to renewing
a visa. But I understand must be there for 90 days on first application .

A couple of applicants got refunds around the same time as myself as well.

The officer must have been having one of those days we can all have from time to time.

He still kept his cool when cancelling mine and even offered additional advice on what date to actually return.

Re the 800K requirements the last I heard recently, it was still 2 months /60 days qualifying time for your first application and then 3 months / 90 days there after for follow on renewals.

Clarification can be obtained from the local Immigration office of course and is advisable as all have their own interpretations
on visa requirements.

Irrespective of stated immigration laws on their website.
