Udon Thani - 14 January 2010
Nongwuesaw townspeople are seeking help from Mr.Amnaj Pagarat, Udon Provincial governor about pollution from Lai oil factory. They told him the factory is emitting an unbearable smell up to a 7km's radius.
This is not the first time they looked for help. They did so before with previous provincial governors. Those that visited the area promised to help but nothing happened. The city industrial department visited and reported to the public that nothing seemed to be wrong with this factory.
The townspeople said a lot of them have health problems. The doctor said it is from the factory pollution. Mr.Amnaj was very concerned about this problem. He asked the city industrial department to check again and report to him directly withing 7 days, if not he will have the factory closed himself!
The Lai oil factory is located along the road of Nongwuesaw-Kudjab and covers 11 rais. The factory converts waste oil into reusable oil. The problem has been there since the factory was built in 2003!
The townspeople hope one day somebody will hear their voice!
