OT's an old-timer and still doesn't know how to do long division. But that's OK because my phone does.

Something else that caught my attention today was the appauling state of the beaches in Australia. A beach at Ballina, New South Wales, on the Eastern Coast of Australia has had a helpless sea turtle starve to death because its stomach was clogged up with plastic debris. With a population of about 2 people to 5000 square miles that sort of polution to the enviroment is incredible. Get the green wheelie bins.

OT has got the reason why Australia has oceans that are now, according to australias top scientists, so polluted. Fosters has been "refreshing aussies since 1888" according to The Amber Netar propaganda. So everyone since then has puked up into the surrounding oceans.

OTs favourite beer is Fosters.

One is assuming that the sea stands still, very often the cause of the pollution has absolutely nothing to do with the nearest local population.
So although m,any could accuse of C*** posts, in fact the problem is MAN we are now just realising the dangers of indiscriminate throwing away non-biodegradeable stuff and the animals are the first to suffer.
So although the post was in itself full of rubbish the underlying thread is a real threat to all of us I think, but then I am sure someone will say I am talking C*** too.

When it comes to retirement and making the big decision to do it in Thailand, what's the right age?
Here's OTs opinion:
25-40 year olds - no chance unless you've won the lottery or are mentally or physically disabled.
40 - 45 year olds - slim chance unless the WFB is of the same character as you and you are not a knobhead.
45 - 60 year olds - guaranteed success, you have timed it right unless you are living off a rubbish pension that wouldn't keep a stray street dog happy.
60 - 70 year olds - Not so easy to fit in especially if the WFB is more demanding and you don't like the food.
70 years and above - well done and enjoy.

Can I ask you OT at what age you made the move to live full time in Thailand?
What I have noticed is most of the 25 to 55 year olds that are retired here end up with a major drinking problem, the visual decline in there health from arrival to present is frightening, I have seen many pass away when they were way to young. Those that have some sort of hobbie or active pastime do ok, keeping the brain ticking over being important as opposed to sitting in a bar all day every day, mind you a few relaxing beers at the end of the day is ok. These are my personal observations only.

The only alchies I know here were alchies before they came here. More surprisingly, I know a few folks in their 80's and a whole lot more in their upper 70's who are doing very well...still driving, getting around unassisted....enjoying life whether living in the city or the countryside. The folks I know who came here in their early-mid 40's (and 1 in his late 30's) have been here for 10+ years and still live quiet, peaceful lives with their wives/family. Just my observation.

I was 34 and it was 1999, and moved up to Udon in 2002 a year after my son was born. I was too young to retire. I did all the normal things, school runs, gym, fishing, shopping, picnics /seaside tours, socialised quite a lot but I still couldn't find enough to do. I painted the house every couple of months, took up collecting orchids, put a new bathroom and kitchen in twice,I bought a shop to activate a bit more activity, I bought land and played around backfilling it with mud and building boundary walls. I still found myself bored,I like reading books and playing on the internet, but not for hours every day - such a waste of time imo, so around 2009 I went back to work full time. I expect to retire in Udon later on.
Udon Thani is coming along and it should be ready by the time I'm ready.

We nearly all met our Issan WFBs in pattaya, some in phuket & other thai islands, and a few on the internet together with the odd few that like to try and convince us that they bumped into them whilst they were on their way to work doing an office job or working in Sainsburys in Udon Thani.
When you went back to your home country to tell your ex wife, children, mother and father (if still around) and all the rest of the family that you were going to marry, set up home, maybe have kids and give up work with a thai WFB, did you tell them what her real job was when you met her?
Tell the truth.

Food for thought. Where do you imagine a black U.S. Army Sargent during the Viet Nam period met his wife who later had a son who became one of the world's greatests golfer? Possibly at a USO sponsered tea and crumpets party at the Staff NCO Club.

Hi,
I have never met anyone like OT, thank God, who is always so wrong. I thought with his title he would have learned a bit about life, appears i was wrong. I met my wife outside of Patts, when she was working in a gov. job. I did travel around LOS., and Patts is not the only place in LOS.
And i object to you telling people they are liars, when you do not know the people. I am also not trying to convince you, or anyone else, about this. I could not care what you think. Maybe if you were God i might listen to you. As of now all i here from you is a load of bullshit.
