There's some sort of Tourism Authority of Thailand event at UD Town between 29-31 July encouraging travel to the southern part of Thailand. Orient Air is supposed to be there promoting their new Udon-Don Muang daily flights........and their website shows an 1199 all-inclusive airfare for that flight, for traveling period 15 July - 15 Oct.

What is the type of plane they are using, with the engines mounted at the rear.Looked as scary a plane as when Dan air (UK)had these planes many moons ago

Is this the reason why the tickets are much cheaper than the competition :-k

Dan Air only used two main types of (extremely noisy) rear engined aircraft – the twin engine BAC One-Eleven and the triple engine Boeing 727.

Orient Thai uses two variants of the MD 80 series, the MD-81 and the MD-82; the MD 80 series are essentially a second generation stretched version of the old DC 9.

The BAC One-Eleven and the DC 9 were often mistaken for each other due to their similar appearance :?

I wonder if it operates year round. I searched for travel in December - no luck...
Perhaps too early to book ?
