Without wishing to be contoversial or racist in any way my take on this i simple , during the current bad times that Pakistan is going thru seemed like the cricket was one thing that still bonded the masses there , now even thats been tainted with these match fixing allegations , bearing in mind the bowler involved did bowl 3 no balls right on cue how the hell can he not admit the charges ........ i smell a rat curry !!

Am i also the only one who can plainly see why aid from certain parts of the world has been slow or non existant in its arrival to Pakistan ? being the LARGEST exporter of terror to Europe and the USA and calling for all westerners to be killed in attacks ............ DOOOH i think it does effect the mind set of those being asked for aid (cash)............. a simple test if someone knocked on ur door and said were collecting for the foods in Pakistan how many would give ?? i would not , and i beleive a large % of Brits woild be the same , especialy those with relatives involved in Iraq, Afganistan etc............ and now these millitants have said they are gonna attack any aid workers and or people who work with the aid agencies INCLUDING PAKISTANIS .
I realise this is a major humanitarian disater but the memories of all the prvious terrorist attacks all over the world must cloud the aid giving issue.

any how back on topic - this bowler should be banned for life and the other fella jailed IMO .

Corruption is so rife in Pakistan its just a way of life.
At the news conference yesterday the captain,Salman Butt, would neither confirm nor deny that he knew about these no balls in advance,he just said all his team gave 100% in the match......what sort of reply is that ?? [-X
So,at the very least,it looks like he as well as the two bowlers are implicated.
Dont be surprised if the whole squad and officials knew about it and were going to split the money and dont be surprised if it turns out Pakistan have done this sort of thing a few times this year.

Butt is implicated 100%. He has to make sure that the bowlers who have taken the bung are bowling at the correct time to bowl the "no balls".
Also look at one of the photos in the UK press. He's looking at the bowler as he's bowling the "no ball", instead of looking at the batsmen. Another sure give away that he knew a "no ball" was being bowled then.

Corruption is rife everywhere including European countries, worse in places like pakistan where its obviously infiltrated cricket and other sport!

But in places like the UK and Ireland and other European countries and indeed the US we are supposed to lead the way arent we? If we in the so called developed nations cant even depend on our politicians to put in correct expenses claims then they cant look to us for a posiive example now can they? Just some food for thought.....

Having spent many years dealing with Asians, I have realised that in fact lying ( bending the truth , call it what you will ) is in fact a national trait amongst all Asian countries. While there is I am sure lying in other countries it is not as blatant as in Asia.
Sure we all have politicans and often companies who circumnavigate the law for their own ends, but it is not a national sport as it is in Asian countries, someone stated Good job Thailand doesn't play cricket, well it is good job Thailand in fact is not a major player in any sports coupled with the other Far Eastern nations with some exceptions.
Corruption can be applied to many sp[orts but it is true in the Main cricket has surmounted those problems it now looks as though Pakistan has dragged it down into the gutter. personally Pakistan should be banned from Cricket as a nation for a period of two years or more in order to get its own house in order. maybe a loss to the Cricketing world but a salutory lesson to all.

So what is the update for the one dayers? Will all alleged players be told not to play due to not being mentally prepared?

Will there be betting available to bet that there will be no 'no balls' bowled by the Pakistani bowlers(what is left of them) in the first game at Cardiff? Odds on?

Four Pakistan cricketers under investigation for spot-fixing claims are unlikely to play again on their current England tour, the BBC understands.

I saw an article in todays paper saying they could be a lifetime ban imposed on they if they are found guilty. I cant see how they wouldnt be given the evidence! I do agree however that the whole team should be banned for a couple years at least. Bad for cricket but worse to let this crap go on.

For anyone wondering about what they were actually involved in (I mean 3 no-balls in a Test is 3 runs & 3 extra balls, not like the shorter versions of the game). the BBC has done a piece on ''spot betting'.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11137067

A bit off topic, but maybe not as it is at the heart of this issue. The introduction of computers (& especially on line gambling) has elevated this out of all proportion to a few years ago. Up 'till a few years ago all the 1st. scorer, last scorer, half time score etc. etc. on football betting just was not available in UK as it was just too impossible for a bookie to estimate his exposure to these beys so just would not take them. That seems to have now changed..

Maybe none of this alleged gambling would have taken place if the Pakistani team had decided to keep the original touring team and captain, remember one of the alleged coming late on the tour as they decided they needed another batsman and his influence,as has been mentioned on this thread,on who bowls when.

Hope the alleged now fully understand when they return to their country after the tour, how much anger it has brought to the people of Pakistan over this.
