Pattaya Crime News

Postby Khun Paul » October 10, 2008, 7:40 am

gentlemen, while I am sure we all like to read the sordid events which occur in pattaya or even Phuket on a fairly regular basis, i do feel that contsant posting on various posts about these happenings are disconcerting and in some cases would make a person wonder wether Thailand was in fact a safe place.

Now, far be it for me to restrain anyone Posting anything, however I do feel and, I address this to the Moderators we could have a heading labelled Pattaya and/or Phuket Crime news , where items referring to either of those places could be put. me I do not particularly care what anyone gets up to in those places, if it affects us then yes, but so little of it does in truth. I agree crime as such in Udon is so very important for us to know about, but in truth it is low, and may we all hope it remains so.

There are web sites that can satisfy peoples desire to read these details if they so wish.

So Moderators can we agree to put Pattaya or Phuket Crime news under a special heading as very little of that news does really affect us here in Udon

I respect your thoughts fellow postees on this matter. :D

I agree Paul. The members who want to dwell on the negative things happening in other parts of the country should have their own 'blood and gore' column.

Then I know to stay away, as I don't care about promoting the low life antics of others. Those who enjoy that sort of thing will then know where to look to satisfy their proclivities.

definitely agee, we need a couple threads.................death/dying/crime.............along with one usa politics/dollar....................and izzix needs his own thread, or that might fall under death and depression..................though sadly, i do get bored occasionally since my better parts are not morning people and that's my reading and world catch up time...............but anymore of this, and i'm jumping. ok, make that a drug overdose........................it's like open to active post, and the 1st ten are depressing.

usa politics
economic armagedon
give dollar a rest
baht, what up
german hangs self
pattaya crime
farang muggings
german cheat porn fee
bottom of investments
airline bankruptcy
brit stabs german

ok, back to my isolation tank, well almost isolation, free bubble massage and no noise.

This is not something that the Mods can do, only Admin.

Do I, personally, think it is a good idea??
In theory, yes, in practice probably a waste of time :(

Many posters seem to find it impossible to put a new post in the correct forum at the moment, increasing the number of selections wouldn't improve that.

p.s. I have moved 3 posts today already to a more appropriate section.. :( If the Topic title is well expressed (and all 3 today were very precise) this isn't so much for answering a question/posting a comment today but to make it easier for a member to search for information (& so not asking the same question again) in the future.

I second that. But I don't think it's the Americans that are necessarily gloomy and humourless, more like the Brits. British people are genetically disposed to be meloncholy.Image

The 1968 Mel Brooks (US. Citizen) masterpiece "The Producers" was full of irony and black humour. That's what made it a classic.

Only just read this topic, as its in a forum i don't venture into everyday....

S'pose i better make a post as i do post some of the storys that some of you don't want to read.........anyway its News...Thailand News..posted under The correct forum, might be doom and gloom, but still news all the same posted under Thailand news as its news from Thailand.

Just so happens most of it comes from Patters or phuket with a smuttering from other areas, a few 'gems' amongst the everyday crime stuff, i enjoy them, post comments on them if i wish..i do pick out what i think are the interesting ones and the ones i think might get some comments posted by others and DO make the headings understandable/relevant even a little comical at times to the story...so someone has the choice of whether to click on or pass on it.....if i spot a 'happy' interesting story i would also post that...in the correct forum...sometimes i don't have to surf the thai news site as most of the good stuff in on here, and remember its 'others' out there that might like reading the news items too..all in one hit so to speak.
If Lee wants to add a crime news section then thats good with me...but can't see the problem with the different news forums we got already .

Some items randomly selected from 'Thailand News'....

"New prime minister" gets 111 views(at time of posting)

"Swiss Neighbours stabbed..." gets 367 views...

"Unlicenecd farang bikers stats " gets 76 views ..

"Aussie stabbed by cat burglar " gets 347 views...

"CAT Telecom about to cut link overseas " gets 144 views..

"Tourist gunned down by cop " gets 3000+ views...

Seems the doom and gloom crime storys do get plenty of views.... ;)

And La...not sure but didn't think you liked 'Baked Beans'..... or is that mortiboy doing a bit of scuba diving under-neath you. =D> (sorry morti..blame La for putting the thought in my head) ;)

and do agree with making sure posters post in the correct forums..its not rocket science,,plus there is always Open forum for all the stuff that you think don't really fit into the forums on here already.

crime and black comedy section

when at Irish Clock, usually pick up a copy of pattaya weekly, first couple pages are too funny, giving new meaning to 'stupidity'. as mentioned, i sadly read them, though i usually try to stay in my non negative cave. slowly weening myself of politics, my head hurts. and the baht/dollar/stock, as i know it's all a scam controlled by power brokers. but after my bucket of coffee, i need some reading material, so try to keep it as local as possible, it is some of the best comedy around. i don't believe much i read anymore as news, it's canned and presented for the extremely ignorant who actually believe the dribble from the networks. where is walter cronkite when you need him.

if only i had a better internet conx, i could waste my time and more pics of the lovelies.

love baked beans, but only my recipe, which sadly, the ingredients are no longer available in udon, and i bought extra beans last time. last batch from scratch made it to the trash bin after a bit of a sample. have to get some stuff in bkk to polish off those last few cans of beans.

keep the gloom and doom coming, i can always change the channel, sex and violence sells, if it bleeds, it leads.

"Tourist gunned down by cop " gets 3000+ views...

say no more :yikes:

I do find that generalisation a touch too far, british Humour is completely different to American humour, Black Adder, the Two ronnies to name a couple of really funny programmes which i know many Americans do not get the double meanings or even the punch lines at all.

I do feel that in this day and age bad news always travels fast, if we do not have crime patters/Phuket heading, then may I suggest an alternative.
Good News, post a happening that makes you smile or makes us believe that the world, country even village is a nice place to be.
I know the BBC tried it once and it did work, people are happier and in these troubled times both politically and financially, anything that makes us smile or think happy thoughts has to be good.

There is a lot of good out there gentlemen lets find it and tell everyone, any event, any happening which shows true human kindness to our fellow man/woman, no matter Colour/ethinicity or religion we are part of a supposed intelligent species yet we all act on occasions if we are at the bottom of the pile not the top.

Thats it. :D
