Pattaya Immigration issue order to revoke visa

Postby BobHelm » February 16, 2011, 12:03 pm

I am not usually prone to reproduce stuff that is Pattaya generated as I don't usually think many of the stories have much relevance to Udon. This one from Pattaya One News is a little different though.

The real difference is that the man concerned would not have appeared to have broken any Thai law. His visa is being revoked because..
The Police detailed 4 separate cases involving Mr. Robinson dating back to 1999 with a case as recent as March 2010 in Australia. In each case the suspect is accused of crimes against minors. For this reason, the Immigration Department made the decision to issue an order to revoke his visa and ordered an immediate deportation to UK, even though Mr. Robinson is currently not wanted in connection to any of the cases.

It then goes on to say..
This is a relatively new law whereby Immigration have special powers to revoke a visa if they consider the subject to be a danger to Thai Society or is likely to commit a crime in Thailand.

Can only hope he is the first of many such 'undesirables' who is shown the door...

This is one man who won't be travelling overseas again once he touches down in England. I understand such offenders are now managed quite tightly by the authorities in the same way as Gary Glitter currently is.

Interesting to describe the law as 'relatively new'. It makes me wonder whether it's been used extensively since its inception.

I don't see anything new here. Its obvious with the involvment of SOC from UK, He was on a Child sex offenders register and the terms of his parole would be not to travel anywhere, even within Uk, without notifying the authorities, and certainly not to travel abroad. He obtained theThai visa without declaring this apparently, so it was simply declared null and void. End of story. No visa , go home .Congrats to SOC. =D>

This article actually shows he was travelling on a fake passport and fleeing from prosecution in Australia. So its not true to say 'He hadn't committed any offence in Thailand"Both are serious offences .
