Don't know if it is the official one or even if they have one but there is a big shop just at the entrance to AEK that does our Philips small appliances like mixers, toasters etc .They are very good and keep spares in stock for most items . If you are talking about domestic appliances, washing machines and TV etc. Don't know I'm afraid .

I checked out that place in front of AEK........it's not a service center. There's a piece of shade cloth hanging over the front door with "Philips" printed on it. Although the place was closed, I could peek inside, and it looked like a mostly empty dirty shophouse.

I know I've seen a Philips service center somewhere......anyone else?

why you do not bring it to amorn..., i am sure they can fix it , philips thailand is made in china , so parts are widely available...amorn is normally the shop to fix almost anything for a descent price... ;)

I have taken five different , but common make appliances into Amorn and after waiting at least two weeks as promised, gone in to pick them up only to be told, mai dai, no have parts. They haven't been able to repair a single thing for me yet. When I spoke to one of the "technicians" I found out they were nearly all kids from the local college .

i brought last friday a small tv 10 years old to amorn , i always ask them with all i leave fix there to make an estimate of the costs first and give me a call ...and as usual they have good service ..they called us same day to inform about the price ( 700baht ) and that it would be fixed the same day...unfortunately we where already on the way home , and as i do not like udon in weekends, we went to pick it up today , and i had a problem with remote other tv , which they fixed for me within 15 minutes , and 50 baht...., never ,ever have had any problems with this shop ....always good service ...
but i am also not a difficult customer ....and i can explain myself in thai ( isaan)..... ;)

"but i am also not a difficult customer ....and i can explain myself in thai ( isaan)...."

Do I detect the hint of fireworks in the air??

I took the blender to a repair shop in Nongwahsaw where I've had good luck in the past. I'm sure on my way into town tomorrow I'll see a big PHILIPS sign......oh well.

parrot, do not misunderstand me here , i only gave a reply to what TB mentioned about amorn before...
sometimes many falang do not speak any word of thai , and the thai almost no english..
so maybe due to lack of communications they go home empty handed ,
for the other remark ,( difficult customer)...i am not making a scene when my whiskey bottle isn't in the box... :D ,
i only want to help ,and if it is any help i saw at amorn yesterday some blenders to fix , also even rice cookers
good luck with the blending... ;)

Well I have never kept a TV ten years so wouldn't know what the spare situation would be for one. I simply said for the five appliance I have taken in there ,they have not been able to get the parts for. How does that make me a difficult customer? Perhaps they were too modern  As for speaking Isaan Thai. I must confess, I don't. Presumably you mean Laos/Thai? Again another difference between us . I learnt my Thai in the more upmarket area of Bangkok and I must admit I am sometimes at loss to understand the village people with their local, read Laos, dialect.

If Amorn's was closer to homebase, I'd take it there. I also understand that some people have bad luck with places that work for others. I'll usually give any place a try.......if it doesn't work for me, it doesn't matter (to me) that it works for someone else.
If I didn't do business with places that other people have had gripes about (Toyota, Global, dentists, ENT's, hospitals, Makro, eyeglasses, restaurants, banks).....why, there'd hardly be any place left to go!

trubrit, I found the appliance repair shop you mentioned.......it's on the same side as AEK, and about 75meters before the entrance to AEK as you're heading toward Makro. The name is Phaisan Electronics (sign is in Thai....ไพศาลอีเล็คโทรนิคส์).. and there's no Sicilian flag flying out front. They do Philips, JVC and a variety of other electronic repairs. As you said, it looks like mostly small appliances/TVs/computers etc.
The place in Nongwahsaw wasn't able to repair the blender so I'll give Phaisan's a try.
Thanks for pointing it out to me.

Speaking central-Thai to any shop owner in Udon has never been a problem for me. Even in the villages. On rare occasion, I'll encounter someone who's only tongue is Isaan......but that's usually in the boonies and very rare.
