Irish Alan wrote:(Some text removed.) As advised by some members here I headed to Nong Bua Lamphu then on to Loei. From Loei we headed to Phitsanulok and this was where we stopped for the night. I had pre-booked Topland Hotel on the Internet. I booked a superior room and on choices for bed I clicked double. Having checked in I was led to my room and when we went in there were 2 single beds. I looked at the guy and he knew by the look on my face that although I was Irish I wasn’t a missionary but I had been thinking of taking up a missionary position that night.
He read my mind and asked Raquel if we wanted 1 big bed. He phoned reception and we waited as he went off for a key and we changed rooms. We had dinner in the Thai restaurant on the 4th floor (I think) of the shopping complex and I cannot complain about the food or the service.
The following morning we went for breakfast. Raquel opted for Thai food and I went for the healthy option of sausage, bacon, sautéed potatoes and fried eggs. You didn’t cut the bacon you broke it and scooped it up… I thanked God for all the milk I drank as a kid giving me solid teeth, as I needed it to chew bacon that was tougher than some industrial boots. Potatoes were ok but the eggs were disgusting. I felt like I was eating the sole of someone’s shoe.
I booked Topland again and we hit Phitsanulok about 5.30pm. We were taken to our room and once again there were 2 single beds. Once again the bellboy rang reception and we were changed into a different room.
The key didn’t work so he disappeared then reappeared and this time the key worked and he told us to wait and he would go and get us a new second key. 40 minutes later there was no sign of him and our stomachs were screaming so we went to dinner. When we came back once again the key didn’t work so Raquel went down to reception but came back empty-handed so we both sat on the floor waiting on the master key man. After about 10 minutes a managerial type appeared with a key and a PDA. The key refused to work. He just walked away without a word. After about 5 minutes a girl appeared with the master key and let us in.
I am sure maybe some day in about 20 years (if I live that long) I will lie in my nursing home bed and smile about it but I wasn’t smiling this night. I went up and down in the lift changing keys until they gave up on it and we didn’t have a key. I used my Tops reward card just to have electricity. They didn’t offer to change rooms again and key or no key I didn’t feel like uprooting again. The following morning after breakfast I once again had to go to reception to ask to be let in. Nobody thought of leaving a sticky note to say the fahlang in room 731 doesn’t have a key so has to be let in with a master. They looked at each other and looked at me like I was a master criminal then I had to sign a book and was given a key. Up, down… Doesn’t work! Bellboy goes up with me to try it obviously they thought my old age and white skin meant I wasn’t using the card correctly. He tries it and would you believe it… It doesn’t work. He calls the housekeeper and she lets us in. We pack and check out and I think it will be a cold day in hell before I return there.

Bra hotell med rena fina rum. Bra pol och nära till affärer då de ligger i samma byggnad. Centralt och med bra frukostbuffe.

I was warned that it would be very noisy 1900 / 2400 due to a fair and that was true , but it was noisy all the time , munk oiytside singing all the time. We made reservation and had ok for double room / king size bed but was given twin room , They did not have any more because the customer who made the reervation before us got the double room. After much arguing we finally got our double room. The swimming pool was in the shadow all day , so no chance for sun bathing and it was even not attended so we could not get the towels, and the water in the pool was cold. The fitness room was a joke , if you are used to go to fitness centers you will understand. No english news channels in the rooms, only thai and star movies. Breakfast was until 1000am and if you came late , eg 0930 the food was cold or nothing left at all.I must mention that the quality of buffet dinner food was very good. We came by car and were happy to have own parking place and free of charge .I will not stay here again, sorry

Yeah I'm right with you there pal.
Translation: Norwegian » English
Good hotel with the re-fina rum. Good pole and close to shops when they are in the same byggnad. Centrally and with good frukostbuffe.
