Phone packages

Postby BobHelm » January 17, 2012, 7:21 pm

Mobile phones has always been a bit of a technological 'blind spot' for me.
I have solid reasons why, but when I destroyed my last 'brick' I finally decided to get a device that did a bit more than just allowed you to talk to another human being.

As I sort of expected buying the phone was just the start of the journey & one of the reasons I resisted until now.

Anyway up until now I have always just used 1 2 call pay as you go, top up in 7/11 & the expiry date of the top up would probably be reached before the money was consumed. Once having got an all singing & dancing device that was, pretty obviously going to be a terrible & expensive way to use it.

I have a Samsung Mini, so we are looking for a package that is designed for an Android device rather than the Apple family.

I have looked at the..
I Techcommunication
ais
truemove-h
web sites & the only one that seems anything like I need is True.
If nothing else their web site is in English, but also seems designed to answer the questions & direct me towards a package.

It look like my choices are...

With the 900 baht package, attractive but expensive.

So is anyone on one of these packages & if so, what do they think...
Or has anyone found someone that is offering something similar that they are happy with??

Phone packages

Bob I have been with DTAC post-paid for some time.

When I bought my android smart phone (Huawei U8150 - from Oz), I was looking for an add-on package which gave me access to data.

I now have a 99baht/month package (on top of my post paid phone calls) which allows me 30MB of data over the phone system (wifi data is not included of course), plus 1baht/MB if I go over the 30 allowance. It is only 2G in Ban Dung, but can access 3G where available in Thailand.

Have a look here:

If you believe you may be a heavier data user, you will probably need a different package.

I also understand that mobile number porting (ie from one company to another) is now available in Thailand, if you want to change, but keep your number.
