Anyone know of a good cheap pocket size english <to>thai language convertor book i can buy :oops:

Its a bit bigger than pocket size (about 8 " * 4" I guess). but I got
Speaking Thai - The fastest way to speak Thai - by Dhirapol Polsawasdi/Chanchai Boonhao from the bookshop in the Complex - 250 baht.
Best thing (for me :oops:

) is that it has English words/phrases, then Thai script and also in English script - for an attempt at pronunciation. Only failing with it is that it doesn't tell you if the word is 'rising', 'falling' or 'constant' -
so will, for example, "egg" or "sell" just give you "khai".
But if all else fails you can always just point at the Thai script...

If you don't know any Thai yet, Its best to learn from a English-Thai Dictionary
This book I had when I first come to Thailand,15 years ago.I took it everywhere I went.I think a phrase book is a bit over the head to learn first stage.
I think it is still available. (ROBERTSON'S,PRACTICAL ENGLISH-THAI DICTIONARY.

Another, in addition to the two good suggestions above, is:-

The English-Thai Dicionary - Mike Simpson. Its a three way layout ie
English - Pronounciation Thai - Thai Script
Pronounciation Thai - Thai Script - English
Thai Script - Pronounciation Thai - English

Pronounciation Thai words have a different font for the different tones.
Available everywhere. and in German.

Sorry though, it's a bit bigger than pocket size.

The "Phrase" book shown is 4"x5" shows the tones as well.Very useful pocket book!
