Picolla Roma Location, please

Postby AznBigG » June 6, 2006, 7:32 pm

Hi there,

I've noticed great things being posted about this restaurant, except I don't exactly know where it is. Can someone steer me to some directions or their phone number? We've called Udon directory assistance (?), but they don't have a listing either.

Thanks!
ABG

It's behind Paolo Memorial Hospital on Precha market, somewhere near the big screen TV.

Thanks, Lee. I finally found it. As you mentioned, it is located at the Precha Market, towards the back end. For those that need to find the place in more details, they have a sign at the entrance (I must've been blind to have missed this several times) from Prajak Road. Go all the way to the back of the market by the restrooms. Look to the right. You can't miss it.

The food was EXCELLENT. We started with the complimentary oven-baked pizza crust accompanied by authentic home-made pa'te, salsa and pesto. They also included a good size salad. We had the ravioli with pork sausage stuffing covered with mozzerella cheese (250 baht) and spaghetti with fresh prawns (300 baht).

The service was exceptional! The staff was efficient and on top of the service.

Though a little small (5 tables indoor), it was still comfortable. They're expanding and opening the extension this Saturday (10 June). They also plan on having a bar/lounge area soon.

Overall, it was a great dining experience, as I've always remembered it. Two thumbs up! Here's wishing them great success!

:D

Been there a few times, its excellent value with authentic, tasty food and good service, so its a popular venue for my family, only downside is its location makes parking difficult in the evening. He has a parking slot reserved outside but usually that area is so congested its hard to get into.

Apparently they're selling that shop. They have another restuarant off the road heading to Sakon Nakon near an Army Base :?:

An Italian restaurant outside a Thai Army base? That's a recipe for disaster. #-o Unless they turn it into a noodle shop.

It's too bad they had to close. Good food and location. Just proves it's tough to make a buck in Udon. :(

Wouldn't say that it is tough to make a buck (baht) in Udon. In many cases it comes down to location, location, location.

The food was good - but the location left a lot to be desired. Parking is extremely difficult to find. Traffic in that area is terrible. That statement becomes even more poignant if you are driving a car or a truck. Bikes - fairly easy to find parking for and getting around on.

Piccolo Roma just opened up in new location. You drive out on Posri Road past Macro, past Big C, until you go just past the Cosmo gas station (I believe that's the name). Then you do a U turn. (for those of you into horse racing, if you just turned right where I'm telling you to make a U turn, you'd be at the race track.) Okay, so you made a U turn and you're headed back towards town. Turn almost right away, turn left after the Cosmo gas station and head a block or two. On your right, you'll see a big arch for a monastery or college and on your left is Piccolo Roma. It is surely the best Italian food you ever ate, and I surely hope my directions were correct (I wasn't the driver).

Sorry - not even close.

The food is/was good, but I've tasted better back home, and in France/Italy.
