I live in Nong Khai Province, about 120 km from Udon...this is a BIG redshirt area...my village is full of red flags but on all the roads around me , even to Nong Khai town, a one hour drive...there is not one despoiled poster...however there is still 16 days left !!

Polictical Rallies in Udon .

Postby trubrit » June 19, 2011, 7:06 am

I am never happy to see a post on here criticizing one party or another so I looked into this by marshbags.Yes it is true but, a big but. Seven residents of this area never returned from the political rallies in Bangkok last year .No one knows what happened to them but all have a good idea ,and are aware who was in charge of the government, therefore the army as well at the time .Do you really think they should be blowing him kisses ?
This is not a political posting but a statement of fact. There are many such unsolved cases on both sides of the divide. This election, as I said before, is not about politics, but power. It has many facets and under currents, most of which, we, as foreigners can only guess at ,but still have an opinion on, but it's not advisable for us to talk about .

Polictical Rallies in Udon .

Never been one not to say wot i feel , I reckon red shirt strong hold or not its WRONG to deface these posters and also to state that a village is a RED village ,, install barriers n check points at the entry roads to such places , ,,,,,,, are you a red - no what you doing - im gonna see my old granny who lives here , is she red dont know dont care !! ,,, according to the media this is happening even stopping / checking cars on the public roads ,..cheeky bastards !!.

I find the whole idea of some of the red shirt leaders being in a shirt n tie government job very scary , more like poorly educated football hooligans running a fanzine with Thaksin Utd the club , with the large majority of their propaganda fed rural followers thinking its the right thing to do in defacing these signs etc shows that they too lacked a decent education or moral upbringing ............ more is taught/learnt at school than maths science and religion etc , politness / manners for one , basic hygiene , and forming friendships upon trust and kindness .......from simple things like using a litter bin to something deep inside saying its better to be honest than dishonest .

ONLY MY OPINION like it or not .

I like it, well said. P.mash.

Now for those who seem to have used my post as an excuse to get political as against the renowned doctorate of the hateful poster destroyers and their ilk.

What I am having a go at is the fact that this party ( let us call it Thaksins party as that is what it is ) is supposedly avocating a free and fair election along with promises of reconciliation, and to unite everyone and heal the past ????

Well I do not see that anywhere, i,m sad to say.

Intimidation is still alive and kicking and these supporters of Thaksins are are true to their inbred beliefs, I mean WTF is wrong in another parties posters being displayed and what / why are these whatevers so hateful for.

Please do not tell me they cannot be blamed for their sutuation and to seemingly indicate that 7 locals have never returned and the Bangkok violence ect. was down to those in the government and deliberate in nature to excuse the behavour that was IMHO always going to have human collaterol along the path of wanton distruction.

Nothing to do with defending right and wrong then is it, even if eventually, proof is forthcoming that they were killed, it is due to their continued violence of, the use of firearms and continued intimidation against the authorities or whoever you wish to point the unproven finger at for blame for what after all is always going to happen and they have an obligation to protect the innocents and those effected by it all. ?

Udonthani City and Nong Samrong Park, Pattaya, Bangkok, and let us add to these examples the burning of the city town halls in various cities, all of which are well documented in the various media channels, including youtube and Thai news outlets for all to see ( who want to ) are testament to what they are about.

Imagine the scenario of the terrorisation of what took place in N.S.Park when they blitzed the area to stop a peaceful meeting of those who dare to think different to their brainwashed, paid for evil idealogy.

I for one was in the park before, during and after it happened and it was a frightening to say the least.

Then multiply this be what a thousand, in terms of violent intimidation ( at least ) and also, time wise in weeks / months and continuously, in spite of the authorities patiently trying to reach a peaceful solution and you begin to wonder how lucky everyone was that the deaths were not mutiplide also.

ON BOTH SIDES

I cannot for the life of me compare the figure of 91 killed against the 2500 official dead ( many more of course by comparison in the name of the horrendous EKJ,s ), many of whom truly were innocent bye standers going about their daily routines, without wondering how the latter horrifying statistics are seemingly disguarded while many of the 91 were involved in the violent chaos and are repeatedly mentioned, while the others are seemingly forgotten.

There is of course one common denominator in the above examples and the instigator of both examples and that is Thaksin

Least we forget...I for one never will.

Political.....do me a favour will those of you who think otherwise and show your human side of fairplay and reality for if not you are no better than those who D.N.G.A.F to decency and humanity.

This is about right and wrong and having the democratic right to choose, without being scared to openly do otherwise, and please do not say we do not have a right to voice our concerns and observe the injustice / horror of it all......

Many of us have families who are Thai and think differently and we as their spouses, fathers ect. have every right to support this basic idealogy and their right to peacefully support whom they think is the best to run the country along with who has the countries best interests at heart.......not an individual who doesn,t G.A. F. about anyone or anything other than his own proven self interests.

Its obvious where your support is, some would argue your beliefs are misguided. My point was simply that we all my have an opinion but it is foolish to get involved with something that not only do we not have a right to vote in, but by expressing that view on a public forum we may be endangering the neutrality of it .To describe these people as hateful is going a step too far in my opinion, but then I am not a mod .

Red shirt villages

Postby parrot » June 20, 2011, 10:03 am

Anyone (expat) live in one of the purported red shirt villages around Udon?
http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/politic ... rt-village
Our village is predominately red shirt, but thus far, no signs declaring it a red-shirt zone.

Something tells me this idea (red-shirt village) doesn't bode well for anyone (especially, say, a small business) who has a different allegiance.

I think this is all a storm in a tea cup.For a start it is only one small area outside Udon . Nong Hai. I drove through there and all though there were plenty of PT posters , no one was stopping vehicles .No barricades , nothing .Quite disappointed really the fuss that's been made about it . Perhaps its been taken down, or maybe it never was . Who knows ?But in any case the idea is not new . .The Jews have partitioned off a huge stretch of land in Gaza. A wall was built to separate communities of different religion in Belfast. Even the Germans had a wall dividing the two halves .Don't agree with any of it, but such a fuss . Has anyone seen a photo of it? I haven't .Wonder why? :-"

Let's talk about the political program

Postby phen » June 20, 2011, 2:26 pm

I find the program from the 2 big parties.
http://www.nationmultimedia.com/2011/06 ... 58219.html
It's good they are very optimistic and believe in self.
Why you have to look at other countries (America/Europe) with problems????

Maybe we also have good ideas for spending money.
1) Free year visa for farang
2) Cutting tax on import products
3) Other suggestion please

I posted this a while back, but it still seems to hold true.I live in Nong Khai city and although I believe it to be a Thaksin base,I never see any violent, argumentative discussions or even political rallies. We have plenty of blaring loudspeaker trucks though. It ,just seems to me that this city, people ,in general, behave like adults and act responsibly and I really appreciate it! =D>
