Finally, Thailand has a politician worth lining up to see, and listening to in Yingluck. Let's hope she steamrolls to victory. Hey...she is as qualified as any of them to lead the country, and she is a dutiful daughter to boot. 55555

Well, you are dead on correct about the population of Canada and British ownership; however, I have no views about Sarah Palin as she is American; however, rumour has it that she is a bit of a wobbler, and not the sort that would achieve the stamp of approval from Mrs. Thatcher. Now she was a real man!

Oh, and there are famous Canadians but they are all ice-hockey players so...yes, there are no famous Canadians.

No, not Pamela Anderson as she is a creation of science.

Okay, how about the discoverer of insulin, Mr. Best? Mr. Bell, the telephone man was from Nova Scotia, and whomever invented that game of basketball was Canadian.

Entertainers include Shania Twain, Paul Anka, Hank Snow, Juliette, Fay Wray, one of those silent actresses. the Sutherlands, John Candy, Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Celine Dion, well, there are a whole raft of them.

Sports figures include Gordie Howe, Justin Morneau, Larry Walker, John Hiller, Wayne Gretzky, Don Cherry, David Beckham et al

In the world of politics one looks to Canadian elites such as Winston Churchill, William the Conqueror, Charles II, etc for leadership and direction.

Before this thread gets hijacked by the criminally insane and morally bankrupt, one should pay attention to attendance at these political rallies in Muang Udonthani and the surrounding provinces to assess the strength of the red shirts. It will be really interesting if Yingluck can translate her popularity into widespread support for her father and others.

You are losing the plot Uncle Tilo. :D

Yingluck's father (Lert) left politics in 1976 - although I guess anything is possible in the farce that passes for the Shinawatra family.

Right you are Khun Jack; however, much of what you say about farce can be applied to many of the politicians that run for office in Thailand, or any other country around the globe.

I think Khun Yingluck is scheduled to arrive a bit later, nearer 5.30, but don't worry there will be plenty going on beforehand. Udon's MP, Khun Pracha Pomnok (excuse spelling) will be outlining his and the parties policies in the new government , as will several other prominent politicians . The event is likely to go on way into the evening, so be prepared for congestion until quite late .It will be a very well supported rally . \:D/
