Once the post has been replied too, what reason would there be to edit it. The reply is to that perticular post as is, and editting the post could change the meaning of the post. There by making the reply or replies null and void, unless the replies are editted to fit the edited post.

This is the exact the reason for implementing the script. However if a member feels the need to edit a post I would advise them to contact me or one of the forum moderators to edit the post for you.

I am bewildered.

I just had a post removed for no reason whatsoever.

And John, yep, I've seen the edit you made, it's just strange that my edit button disappears right after someone has replied...something to do with permissions methinks...

I'll take a look for you BB.

When someone with the authority to delete and/or edit postings, are they required to inform the person who posted, that this was done and reason(s) as to why it was editted or deleted. This would be a great courtesy to the poster(s) and especially since he/she are a members of Udonmap.com.

We do endeavor to notify members if their post is to be edited or deleted. However some edits/deletes may accidentally go unreported, or if the post has broken some obvious rules and/or contains bad language then the member may not be notified.
We will try our best to notify members but apologize if they don't receive notification.

99.9% of members on this forum are quality, well respected and valued contributors and we never have the need to edit or delete their posts.
All new and existing members who follow the rules needn't worry about their posts being edited or deleted.

Happy posting everyone.

:)

Slightly off topic but still to do with editing.
I notice that on the classifieds column the posts go back ages, wouldn't it be sensible, as its unlikely most of the items are still on the market, to put say a 90 day period on items, after which they are automatically deleted.?

There is actually a 120 day time limit on classifieds in the classified section buysell/index.php however, the forum is a separate system and it's not possible to apply attributes to individual forums. The only way around this would be to manually delete the adverts or manually move them to an archive section.

If you need anything edited, deleted or moved please let one of the moderators or myself know, thanks.
