All streetwise people are very good at taking care of themselves(fighting)and will use any mean's to win.
Thais have a vicious, violent streak when unleashed will cause serious injury or death without a second thought, knowing they can pay police, unless it is frang as in this case. This will go all the way in court and i envisage a lengthy jail term.
As i got 30 stiches in my head from b/g yeilding stilletto's and stabbed twice with a nail file in the shin did see how quickly these angel's can become a deadly force not to be underestimate, add a pinch of unstableness anything can happen.

Congratulations Ulick. Others have been trying for months to crack git's spell checker - all without success.

But you have done it - a feather in your cap.

Perhaps that stiletto did more damage than you realised :D

Would you guys say that this "Day & night" complex you are talking about is a potentially dangerous place ? Only at night ? Only until this knife girl is in prison ? All the time ?

So in the los you can literally stab some one and if a charge is not brought by the victim your free. Would a falang be free like a thai if it was the other way round.

No DeNuit I would not say it was a dangerous place at any time. Violence can occur in the most unlikely places at anytime and it just so happened that an incident took place in this location.
Sounds like a quiet Tuesday night down the Old Kent Rd to me.

Until now the only complaint about D&N was different music in everybar,i had some great night's there girl's are great for a laugh and joke and it can really buzz.
Nutty park is completely different but no less enjoyable nice bar's,seating outside give it a nice asia-europe feeling, great food and sometime's a jamming session.
DAY & NIGHT NUTTY PARK ,same same but different both excellent, only in udon :guiness:

Six b/g with stilletto's and one stabbed me twice in the shin with a nail file, whev i got up off the road minus one gold ring another b/g pulled the flag pole out of the green in the middle of the road and got me just above the wrist, one stilleto came very close to my right eye in the eye brow, next day, stiff ,sore and livid.
Nurse's in the hospital were unbelieveable. :drunk: :ugly: :-({|=

You make my life in Udon seem so boring in comparison. Not complaining mind. Like it that way.

So basically the place is normaly safe. And this Nutty park place too (another beer bar place I suppose yes ?).

Yep you are right Roy. Heard a lot of stories about fight there while I was living in England. Been in a hudge pub fight once in Tunbridge wells... don't know who had started it, but everyone was included in it in a few seconds... me included who was just having a quiet pint with a friend :guiness: ... didn't stay "fair" this pub fight as some guys where hiting other with glasses, beer bottles, snoker cues ^^... got hit on the head by behind with something sharp for no reasson and had to go to the hospital for a few stiches on the head... never went back to this pub (the Swan) ever...

I would say that sounds about right Roy.
If anyone had asked me (before this incident) if D&N was "dangerous" I would have probably laughed so much I would have been incapable of an answer.
I would have said the same about Udon in general though.
The incidence of Thai to Falang violence is minuscule - which is what makes events like this so news worthy.
As I have said previously, I have seen and heard about Falang on Falang violence. Sadly Thailand does seem to attract some people that would not be welcome in their own home.
However I would probably see acts of potential violence EVERY time I went out at night in town in the UK - it is, I believe, still a rarity in Udon....

Never heard of a hudge pub but what you describe sounds like typical Pikeys to me.fists not normally used, weapons yes.

So this incicdent in Day & Night presumably was at the end of the Tuesday night when everyone is fuelled with booze? Presumably by not mentioning the bar, we will all now try to avoid ,as the perpetrator was working there then we will all just need pot luck where we want to drink on our nights out and will have to have our wits about us?

Do we need to wait for the court case and get both sides to this story or can Bob update this post once he has all the facts from both sides. At least the bar name.thx

To expound a little bit on what Ulick said, I believe 99% of these bar girls, despite the
profession they have fallen into, are "jai-dee", happy-go-lucky, not really evil-minded.
But it's not a normal career and sometimes, if they're not able to find a long-term partner
they do indeed get very angry and resentful internally. Call it unstable if you will and truly
sad and understandable after years spent at this with nothing to show for it. I'm always
cautious because they're out there. Hair-trigger temper, and will snap at slight provocation. :(
