Yes relief indeed.

Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid have been credited with an interest in the Spain international, while speculation about the future of influential midfielders Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano is ongoing.

Benitez has insisted he has no intention of breaking up his squad for the sake of a quick profit and is adamant that record signing Torres has no desire to leave.

He said: "We have had some very big offers for some of our key players this summer - and that includes Fernando Torres.

And you have some neck calling our Fernando a ladyboy... Jo isn't particularly a picture of masculinity is he? And as for Patti Boulaye Pienaar.

Everton's Steven Pienaar.

Well, MAYBE they are still interested...

Real Madrid have still not given up in their pursuit of Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso, with the coach of the Spanish club Manuel Pellegrini insisting: "We are interested."
Full story: The Sun

And in a cheeky move for the Spain international, Real have decreased their offer for the player by £3m to £22m.

I would never say that I was exactly a fan of his style of play but he always looked like he was giving 100%. However, very sad news & I hope that he manages to beat this as well...34 is a shockingly young age to have this visited on you...

Former Wales, Arsenal and Celtic striker John Hartson has testicular cancer which has spread to his brain, it has been confirmed.

I am not disputing (for certain) 747. In fact it looks like RM have their "hooks" into Alonso & know that he will come cheaper than they were willing to pay.... :D
In fairness, if you were a Spanish player there are really only 1 of 2 clubs you would die to play for (depending on which part of the "tracks" you came from) Real Madrid or Barcelona... :D :D To play abroad might be financially rewarding but would not be the same....

According to Goal.com,not only is Adebayor on his way to Maine Road from Arsenal but also the Chelsea CEO,Peter Kenyon,as well.
Kenyon is thought to have become disillusioned at Stamford Bridge having little input into the appointment of Carlo Ancellotti and being on holiday when Phil Scolari was sacked.

I'd be surprised if Kenyon did leave Chelsea but he does follow the big money around.Firstly,United then Chelsea when Abramovic had his millions to spend....now City seem to have limitless wealth from their Arab owners,so who knows ??

In fairness to Kenyon he left United in a pretty good financial situation. Not sure about Chelsea but Abramovic has certainly cut back on the spending (as I believe he said he would right from the start). If he does go I think Chelsea will miss him more than they can imagine..

Anyway,Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez says there will be no more big money signings arriving at Liverpool before the start of the season and he is "happy " with the composition of the current squad....so no Frank Ribery,I.A. & souness...

Concern now for Everton and 747man.....
Everton have admitted that they have rejected a 15m offer from Manchester City for their defender Joleon Lescott.
City manager,Mark Hughes, wants Lescott to partner his other transfer target,John Terry,in a new look City defence.
Despite Evertons refusal of Citys offer the bookies make Lescott 4/11 on to be a City player at the start of the season.

747,you know I got 2 out 0f 3 of your Everton Fantasy League players right ? The third wouldnt be the guy with the hair,Fellaini (spelling ?) would it ?.......certainly not Louis Saha ! :D
