Re the passport problems, in 2002 I was kindly warned by a Melbourne emigration official just as I was leaving that with only 2 months remaining on my passport, it would get me into Argentina my first stop but certainly not into Singapore the second stop on my extensive journey. As soon as I arrived in Buenos Aires and explained my predicament, the (Australian)visa officer at the Australian High Commission pulled out all stops and issued me with a new 10 year passport (showing "Place of Issue Buenos Aires") 24 hours later. It was complicated as Argentina runs several parallel Peso currencies, only one of which could be accepted by the High Commission so they were particularly helpful.

I have heard (and experienced) that some of the Thai visa officials in the Australian Embassy in Bangkok treat their fellow citizens very rudely (maybe from jealousy), therefore it might be advisable to try to talk with the Australian visa official whenever a Thai person has a serious passport problem concerning Australia.

LA, this ad is a bit confusing. I was speaking to my friend last night and came across this fare and sugggested it is favourable enough that she could come down to Bangkok with her son and nephew to meet me on arrival in mid-August.

What do they mean by permanent residents? Why not just say Thai citizens and those with permanent status?

She was going to go to the Udonthani airport to buy tickets but, according to this ad, booking must be done on line. Strange.

Your Phillies are starting to runaway with the National League East. Yes, this is a team from Philadelphia we are talking about. I used to like them a lot when they had Jim Bunning, Chris Short, John Boozer, Johnny Callison, Cookie Rojas and Tony Gonzalez aeons ago. That was the year they blew the big lead in the last few weeks of the season. At that time, it seemed that Bunning and Short were pitching every second day and they got worn out.

Most of us are on Non Immigrant Visa's if you have Permanent Residency you get a Thai ID card, which we have not got. Yes Thai Nationals and PR's. They would want to see your ID card before selling the promo ticket.

You know, I've been staring at your post for ages but there's nothing there I can get worked up or angry about. Although Bunning and Short pitching every second day, there's a lesson to be learned there: rest your flaming team! It's not rocket science.

I run 3 or 4 times a week and rest in between, I don't get sports injuries.

You should have been enraged remembering that the Hall-of-Famer Bunning had to pitch every second day like that. Here was a guy that threw no-hitters in both leagues, for the Detroit Tigers in the junior circuit (American League) and for the Philadelphia Phillies in the senior circuit (National League).

Also, the fact that the Tigers traded him should have you up in arms.

Bunning, I think died in the past year or so. He might also be remembered as a Hall-of-Fame Republican Senator from Kentucky. The fact that he was a Republican will have many forum members in a tizzy too!

I am sure that you are really grinding your teeth now.

Have some hot cocoa to calm down.

Or go for a run from point A to point B. Is it your dear wife that sends you out the door on these jaunts around the neighbourhood? Does she force you to run as far as the home of Winnie the Pooh?

Yes, Khun BM, Boozer had a short career owing to his addiction to some form of alcohol. - just joking, I think

Bunning is still alive and still the Republican senator from Kentucky.

Thanks for that correction, it is much appreciated.

Detroit should never have traded him. I forgot who they got from the Phillies for him.

He must be in his late sixties or early to mid seventies.

Aside from his right-wing politics, Jim Bunning was a hard throwing right-hander with a wicked curveball and went on to become a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. He chose to enter the HOF as a Philadelphia Phillie. As a devoted Detroit Tiger fanatic, I was apoplectic with rage when the Tigers traded him to the Phillies.

The Tigers made up for it by getting Tony Taylor in a trade with the Phillies in 1971. Taylor, a great fan favorite, helped Detroit win a division title in 1972.

Thanks Polehawk. Tony Taylor was a really nice guy, but Bunning was simply the best, well, one of the best in those days along with Sudden Sam McDowell. It was a trade that should never have happened.

It really got me steamed just like 1960 when the NFL Chicago Cardinals were moved to St. Louis. Other than the occasional Lions game, I stopped watching the NFL for decades.

I am still a Detroit baseball and hockey fan.
