Anyone have any updates on the road construction?trubrit wrote:Just a note. They have started to make the road down from AEK to the station a two lane highway. Its utter chaos and mud everywhere.A place to avoid if possible.

The original road is back to normal. The aditional space, not sure if its going to be a public highway or part of UD has had drainage installed and has been levelled for further developement . Although the traffic flow is normal this has led to a shortage of parking at UD .jingjai wrote:Anyone have any updates on the road construction?trubrit wrote:Just a note. Re: UD Town (Formally UD Center)
That is a fair summary TB.
I am not sure what the 'plan' is about roads & parking at that end of the project.
I assumed that the land near the current road would be for parking (as it is at tent city) & that a road would run between that parking & the buildings for access. They appear to be building THAT road now - whether it has an exit/entrance on Phosi Road I have no idea.
If we get a serious downpour I imagine this complete area (including the road) will be a nightmare again. As it is reasonably dry there at the minute it is not too bad...

Re: UD Town (Formally UD Center)
Looking at the proposed parking area, i imagine it being for 2 lines of angled parking ,
/ for 1 side and \ for the other side,
Still going to make it tight and as we all know reversing is the biggest cause of small accidents

Just been on the site today and got to talk with a surveyor so in a better position to say whats going on now .trubrit wrote:[

The road from the lights at AEK down to the station lights is going to be dual carriageway. It is then carrying across the lights towards the old Paolo hospital and the school . So all those market stalls on the right are coming down to make way for it . Don't know where it goes after that, new sheet of paper. TIT .There is going to be an entrance to UD from Posri road, near the level Xing. A few photos to illustrate . Lights at AEK Entrance from Posri Rd . The dual cariageway .
Will post uptodate photos of UD later .

Re: UD Town (Formally UD Center)
Val nice photos when do you think it will be all finished ?
Re: UD Town (Formally UD Center)
Finished completely Ron ?They estimate 2015 .The tent city will be demolished and the new De luxe hotel buiilt near the station . This current stage of the project will start filling up early next year but take a further year to finalise . Thats what they said .aznyron wrote:Val nice photos when do you think it will be all finished ?
Re: UD Town (Formally UD Center)
Now back to the new shops .There are at least 250 shop units on there, so someone has great faith in Udons potential. The roads are wide with plenty of parking bays around. The whole layout is a kind of garden city with fountains and lots of trees . The whole impression is one of spaciousness as you will see from the photos .

Thanks for posting Trubit.
It looks good, and love the bold colours of the units.
The Robinsons Mall /Complex looks very tired now and worn out, the owners will have to up their stakes to compete with UD Town and the Downtown Mall due to open next year. I just wonder a little, if the customer base is there to make these new flash malls pay their way.

Re: UD Town (Formally UD Center)
I thought of Sioux City in Gran Canaria, where they made a few spaghetti westerns.
I went there in the late 1980's it was a great day out, a stampede of cattle through the town, gunfights, and girls wearing frilly knickers doing the can-can in the saloon.

Well , you can see buffalo wandering around the ring road and ocassionally a gun fight does break out in the market but girls in frilly knickers?I don't think so , unless Tiger changes its promotional approach .Prenders88 wrote:I thought of Sioux City in Gran Canaria, where they made a few spaghetti westerns.

Re: UD Town (Formally UD Center)
Just noticed that the Fuji restaurant originally shown on the pictures next to McDonalds is not there, another outlet named ShabiSushi.I was hoping that Fuji would come to Udon as enjoyed many a meal of theirs.Sushi ok but a shame for me.
Glad though that they have made parking easy to the right of McDonalds instead of me thinking of negotiating a parking space on the road leading to the railway station.
