President Hotel was fine when I stayed there in May 2008 for about a week. Food was nice though I couldn't get a hamburger there til my last day. (and it was a bloody lovely tasting burger)

Abit out of the way but nice, clean swimming pool and staff friendly. Didn't see any cockroaches or prostitutes.

In your original post you gave the staff an absolute "caning", and now you want to tell us how friendly and helpful they are. Like i said in my last post, Spanker of the highest order. First it was wifi, then a cockroach and now the poor gecko's. Stop giving us all the Sh*ts and go bother someone who cares with your pathetic BS you clown...

I am glad that things appear to have improved for you. Couple of points.
The Wi-FI. I doubt in the extreme that ANYONE at the hotel has little comprehension as to what it is, let alone how to fix it. Would they tell you that?? No, under no circumstances would they - face would not allow them. The staff would have undoubtedly followed whatever procedure had been laid down for them. Which was probably little more than informing a superior (who probably was not on site as it was night) of your complaint.
The room wildlife. As I said in my original post, cockroaches are everywhere in the world, let alone South East Asia - even if you have never seen one before. If you have not then the ONLY reason is that the hotel are daily spraying chemicals into the room you are occupying. When I am staying in hotels now I will always attempt to aerate the room before I sleep in it. I know that they do this at the Top Mansion. When I stayed there for a protracted period I asked the cleaning staff NOT to spray my room. The chemical mix needed to kill a cockroach is something I do not want to be breathing in all night, the insects themselves are completely harmless to humans. As are geckos (the 'lizard'), who feed on insects, especially mosquitoes, completely harmless.
As for the girls... well without wishing to be controversial how do you know that:
a) They were prostitutes
b) They worked for the hotel.
Or is it just an assumption on your part?? As, to my knowledge, this would indeed be a first for Udon Thani and a very strange way for a hotel that is aiming at Middle Class Thai to go about their business.

Glad to read you are more happy about the hotel now. I don't think it is necessary to upload a video of a jîng-jòk, everybody knows these little lizards and i'm surprised you haven't seen them before. Maybe you are right that the cockroaches should not be in a hotel, but these little lizards are really everywhere (yes, in my room, not so far from the President Hotel, too)! They eat the bugs...

Must not be hurting their business. Had a power outage at our house a few days ago so called around to various hotels looking for a room. President Hotel had NO rooms available, period. If I knew Sid was still staying there maybe I could have asked him to give up his room. Then again, after seeing his videos, that would have been a bad idea.

Where's that exterminator ad? Think we have a troll infestation. :-"

OMG....!!!!!!

If a place was infested i would agree it wouldn't be nice....but i reckon you saw 1 roach and 1 maybe 2 small lizards...don't worry they were'nt interested in you,..if there was so many i Know you would have captured it on film. ;)

I see you brought your own Wi-Fi Signal Capturing Equipment ......

My apologies to Miles. I'm sure he's just innocently eavesdropping on someone taking a dump or whatever in the adjoining rooms.

Is it me or is it starting to get a bit vicious, sid?

Just to say that I recently spent 3 weeks in the President. Had some probs with the wifi dropping out but they actually had 3 different networks running so just swapped. Only used it to keep up with e-mails.
On the girl front I was told that they were Hostesses working for the hotel on a minimum wage that they supplimented by joining male customers having a meal. They certainly seemed to eat well while I was there. They sometimes left with customers so can only guess what happened next. On the whole they were a really good looking bunch of girls.
No probs with the wildlife on my visit so maybe I was lucky.
Enjoyed my stay and will probably use it again.

you invest in a better fitting swimming garment the next time you decide to parade yourself around the poolside. i would
have hardly noticed had it not been for my reading glasses. Putting this aside, this hotel is of a very good standard.
