Doubt if you will see a Starbucks here. They are having problems worldwide. They made their money on selling ambiance, not coffee. Unfortunately for them, others caught on to the fact that they could sell coffee at half the price of Starbucks and still make a tidy profit. Thus, competition has done them in. Witness the McDonald's at UD that has a passable coffee operation, which, IMHO is the reason Starbucks opted out of the UD scene.

I hate Starbucks, both for the price, and 'cos it's a "big concern", places like this usually don't give a damn about you, just another number to them. On my next visit (next month) I'll be going to Coffee Corner again for my fix. I've always had good service there (even from the time when they were opposite Robinsons), and there's nowt wrong with their coffee either.

Also a problem is, that these big concerns take the benefit out of a country and use it anywhere else.

There are enough good coffee shops in Udon, so i think there's no need for a Starbucks. I'm not sorry about that, don't like there coffee and don't like there prices.

I would think a Starbucks culture would do nicely in Udon.
If it's all about being seen and posing, seems a natural fit.
Why not?

Like McD's, I don't personally care for it, but it's hard to argue with success.

I do not like coffee so could not care less whether there is a Starbucks or not. Doesn't Black Canyon cater to the needs of the coffee addict?

For the more refined and genteel tea-drinker, there are many options in Udon and Isaan.

For ice-cream, Swenson's is just fine.

Oh, I should be commenting on doughnuts, and not ice-cream. Well, the complex has one of those, but the best doughnut store is Tim Horton's.

If you like Starbucks, try the Wawee Coffee that just opened in the UD complex. It's cheaper than Starbucks and I personally think it tastes better.

Hi All
I thought that I read in a past thread that they pulled out of one of the new complexes (maybe UD) because they couldn't get one of the front shops at the entrance, hence not enough exposure.
