Worm in E-mail?

Postby bumper » March 11, 2010, 3:01 pm

I just got a e-mail from a guy who died six months ago, made the mistake opening. I later received an e-mail for one of his friend saying it had a worm virus, in it what do I have to look forward to?

I did block the e-mail address but I think it's to late

What do I need to do now?

Thanks

Use this electronic early bird to catch it.

You probably do not need to do much bumper.
Most of the e-mail providers scan e-mails before they send them now & will kill or refuse to send ones with viruses in.
Next you undoubtedly have a virus killer running when you opened the mail, if anything was suspect you should have been warned then.
If you want to make very sure you are not going to get problems...
Open your anti virus protection.
Check that you are running the latest version - most have an obvious "Check for latest update" button lurking somewhere.
Get the anti-virus software to do a full scan of your computer.
That can take a while if you have a lot of hard disk space used.
