I read on here that Carrfour will open a store at UD Plaza, is this true? I've been past the place several times and haven't seen a single banner advertising it.

I have never heard that they were opening there & cannot see any logic in them doing so either..

Ah, maybe the mini-Tesco's - the 7/11 competitor - that would make sense...

The large Supermarket going up at UD Town was originally billed as being Carrefour when construction started. And the building is certainly not a 7-11 competitor.

If their plans haven't changed, I believe it's the building that still under construction where it will be located.

Still can't see how the hell it makes sense to build a supermarket in the centre of town though. Deliberately increase the traffic flow in the centre of town sounds a cracking idea, especially when there are currently 5 supermarkets at various spots on the ring road!!

I can't see Carrefour putting more money into Udon, I wonder if the brave man who suggested building the one on the ring road still has his job?
Last time I went there I thought the place was closed. Pity as my first stop when visiting Pattaya is Carrefour, but here they have cut back on the product line so drastically its not even worth a visit for me.

Where is U D Plaza ? I know CareFour, Centera Mall and the round about is. But do not know where U D plaza is ?

I must have talked to the same security guard last week. He said it would be a new Super Tesco and scheduled to open May 27th. Asked him where the parking lot would be and he waved vaguely around the whole area.

Maybe if they knocked down the storage buildings closer to the tracks?

The original promo banners on Prosri Road showed Carrefour being a proposed tennant, as well as Starbucks.

No doubt their first venture into Udon wasnt as good as expected, thus their withdrawl from the project. Loose a few million in deposit, no doubt, but less that the original shop is loosing every month, based on experiences and OP's
