Children's books

Postby Ray.Charles » February 24, 2010, 5:12 pm

Where can I find children's (3-10 years) picture books; used books in decent condition would fit the budget.

Another attempt with some background. I am trying to fulfill a request from a friend who teaches at a church affiliated school in Lampang. I got no response to my first post. If there are no local commercial sources for such books, I would be happy to collect a few if you have some to donate.

Sorry Ray I can't help & I guess others are struggling too - otherwise they would have replied.
It might be worth your while talking to The Liberian at the Book Shop & Cafe he might be able to point you in the right direction.
I also seem to remember that a few years back Paul (The Moderator) also gave a load of gifts to a local Udon School & I seem to remember that books were included in that. I have a feeling that was a 1 off lucky happenstance though.

Maybe a PM to them might get some help for you..

We have sellers running around here from Grolier Thailand (Bangkok). They sell a special children program consisting of:

Disney Magic English

BBC Muzzy Family english

Logico

They have no website here (sic) but there:

http://www.grolier.co.in/

showing that stuff. You can also look for the original Muzzy website, but Disney's is accompanied by thai books, so if then you have to buy that one here. Be warned, everything is a bit outdated and of course very expensive.

They also provide a set of Richard Scarry's storybooks as free add-on if you order here. I got at least these books extremely cheap at Amazon :D

Good luck with the search. I would be interested in finding someplace local, too. I had to go with a Kindle for my daughter (8 yo).

Ray,

There's a bookstore where they carry many of the education books used in the schools. The shop is on the corner of soi 2 between Phosi rd and Sirsuk (about one block up from Mhe Yah restaurant) or K-12 on the map.

If you look at the map I attached, center of the map where it's annotated "Thai".

There's another place near the rail road tracks near Nong Sim Lake/Park. If interested let me know.

Thanks, papaguido. Went to the book store, bought the books that I think the teacher in Lampang, my internet friend, is looking for. Lunch at Meh yeh was a nice diversion.
