Information about Kumphawapi

I'm interested about Amphoe Kumphawapi.

I am going to relocate for a period in this place, so I want to know if there is a hospital there or a helth center, or something like that.

Can anybody help me please?

Don't know much about this ampur Kumphawapi.I think main street has numerous shops probably a 7/11.I know the train stops there.
I'm sure some one will tell more.

Don't know how we ended-up in the Southern but looking at the
Thai spelling of this place (กุมภวาปี) I want to hazard a guess it's
pronounced more like "goom-pha-wa-bpee", might make the
difference between someone understanding you or staring at
you like a crazy person, which happens to me just all the time.

Thought FrazeeDK gave you that information. A 30 minute drive to Udon and you will have a choice of at least 5 major hospitals. Don't know if Kumphawapi has any local doctors but don't sell them short. Many years ago I used to rely on local doctors in Udon for minor illnesses such as food poisoning, tonsilitis, etc. instead of the US Air Force doctors at the air base and they always came through for me.

Actually the Songtaew route starts in Udon between the two roundabouts, stops at the Kumpawapi-Pandon busstation along motorway 2, then stops at Pandon town (1 km east of motorway 2), and ends at the market in Kumpawapi town.
You can also take the green bus to Wangsammor from the Udon busstation, it also stops in Kumpawapi town.

I don't know if there is a hospital in Kumpawapi, I will ask my wife. But I would advise you to go to Udon (AEK-Udon or Paolo) if you have to go to a hospital.

The only healthplace I know in Kumpawapi is at the KP-hotel in Pandon. They have a fitness centre, a swimming pool and a (traditional Thai) massage shop.

Kumphawapi has an hospital, but I would honestly recommend travelling the 30 km to Udon instead.

i have just been there , quiet village, a lot monkey's , not really much to see....., they do have a hospital ,but probably our member wayneor0 who has a pizza shop there can enlighten you....
btw cali they do pronounce it kumphawapi..., no matter what you call it same monkey city...watch your belongings...

they have got a hospital there but it is verry basic and i would not reckonmend it for fallangs

For native English speakers it is pronounced something like "Gumpawarbpii" for speakers of most other European languages it sounds something like "Kumphawaapie".

There are several activities during the year. For instance,in November every year there are longboat races on the river.

In the centre of town is a small park with monkeys. There is a market and two 7-11s, and a lot of small shops and restaurants, but no large supermarket.

Yes there is a hospital, I have been there a couple of times. It is on the way to the sugar factory,
just past the PT gasstation on the left side.
I have heard good as well as terrible stories about Kumpawapi hospital. I guess that if you have a major problem, it's better to go to a hospital in Udon city.

It was apparently opened while I was in Europe

I have lived in the next Amphoe to the south of Kumpawapi (Non Sa-at) for 13 years and used to go to Kumpa quite often for shopping up till last year when we got our own 7-11and TESCO.
Now we only go to K. if we miss the electricity bill collector and have to go to pay at the Provincial Electricity Authority Office, or if my wife gets a touch of neuralgia we go to K. at a weekend to a doctor there, in whom she has great faith. He is a senior doctor at a Government Hospital in Khon Kaen during the week and has a private clinic in K. at the weekend.

I have found my local hospital fine for the little things and the hospital (Srinakarind) of the Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University (KKU) fine for the bigger things (heart surgery and hip replacements etc).

For dentistry, the clinic at KKU is superb.
It is huge (6-storey) as you would expect as it is the one training centre for a region of 25 million people.

If an insurance company is paying, then by all means go to a private hospital and have the speed of thir outpatients' department or their in-patient 'hotel services'; but the Government hospitals are just as good, though more crowded.

(Tip: expect that whoever you meet may be shy about their pronunciation of English, and find your speech difficult to understand.
Have a pen and paper and write the important words, and let them do the same. Generally, educated Thais are very good at reading English and writing down essential terms, but get a bit panicked by the listening/speaking side of it.
