Beef Steaks

Postby trubrit » July 15, 2010, 1:39 pm

Just discovered a newly opened shop specialising in prime beef . Its all sourced from Thai/French cattle bred and raised here .Its located next to the computer shop called 108 in what was the old Molly Malones bar .The sign is in Thai only, and is literally called "Cows Meat". The staff do not speak English but they have a chart on the wall showing which part of the beast the cut comes from and a price list is on display. I bought what we would call rump, cut to order, nice and thick, it was 240bht a kilo .My wife grilled it last night and it was perfect , lovely and tender. Apparently the shop is part of a network that only sells beef and mainly supplies the hotels and restaurants, so there isn't much on display but they have a good choice in the fridges .T bones are available to order only .
ijuts rule!

Hi,
Trubrit. Been getting my meat, sourced from Thai/French cattle raised here. I think it's the best type of beef. It's on the Th Si Suk road, going down to the first roundabout, on the left hand side just before the bridge, near the round about. Can easily miss it. Not much on display same as your one. I wonder if it's the same person who has opened another shop. I love my t. bones and get some to Bar-B-Q every month. The meat is very good. Not like the muck in Tescos etc. and cut to how you want it, and at a good price and quality. Got introduced to it five years ago and always buy there. if it is the same one I would recommend it to anybody.

One of the reasons their beef is so good is that they age it for three weeks (let it hang) before they sell. I have tried their rib eyes several times and they were all excellent. Great texture and flavor. So if you want a great tasting steak, this is the ideal place to go.

Which shop are you refering to? It sounds like Douglas and Trubrit are talking about two different shops.

He must be talking about a new outlet. The shop near the roundabout has been there for at least 8 years that I know of. The female owner has limited English. We actually have an agent in Ban Dung, but they only supply to pre order.

If your near Sakon Nakhon visit their stud, abattoir and restaurant good day out and will take you for a tour through the place and show their operation.

stoneman the first (original) place hasn't moved since last year:

thai-beef-t14400.html

The new place that Val refers to is in (UM) map reference N or O11.

The steaks from this supplier are the best in Udon. I buy a whole fillet, slice it to the thickness I like, cook and eat one or two and wrap the others in cling film and bung them in the freezer. One fillet normally ends up about 5 or more thick steaks. Even when they are cooked after being frozen they're great. A mate of mine from Pattaya used to buy Australian Imported beef from Foodland, now he gets a few kilo from the supplier in Udon when he comes up because it's equally as good.

OT.......... \:D/

Ive just bought another 1.5kilo of sirloin :D i take out what i need cover it in crushed garlic and black pepper and leave it in the fridge over night, the rest goes in the freezer. Tamada you might have to order the brisket a couple of days before you need it to be on the safe side.
