Hi, i have been in udon a couple of years now with my golf clubs which haven,t seen the light of day since i played in Pattaya. I would love to start playing again and noticed your society. What do i have to do to join?
There is one small problem and that is transport, i have a motorbike but that could prove fatal if the said golf clubs were perched on my back. Dont know if any of the members have a spare seat on the days you play, i live near nong prajak.Anyway any information would be gratefully received.

I might be able to help you out for the Victory Park events, but for the other two venues, a trip to Nong Prajak is to far out of the way from where I live. I know of a couple of our members who throw their clubs over their shoulders and arrive on bikes. Another had a two wheeled trolley made which he attached to his bike. If you want a lift to Victory Park on Monday send me a PM with your telephone number included and I'll give you a ring.

Hi, It appears i am not allowed to send personal messages to individuals and would dearly like to go to Victory Park on Monday, but including my phone number in this message could pose a few problems perhaps there is some other way to get in contact. Cheers

Hi uptheowls, you will be able to send pm's to other members once you are past the minimum required number of posts to enable you to do so.

I have notified Galee (he runs the society) of your request and will be in touch shortly :)

Hello 'uptheowls',

I played golf both here and Pattaya for over 5 years and relied on my motorcycle for the vast majority of that time. I know of 2-3 golfers in the area that depend on their 2-wheeled trailers to pull their clubs but I also know of others that just strap their clubs to the back of the bike with a bungie cord. Don't let your m/c put you off from joining up with a great bunch of guys on the links. Hope to see you at Victory Park on Monday. \:D/

The golf society had a bit of a false start yesterday. having arrived at Victory Park we found that, despite them having our fixture list since the beginning of the year, they had double booked us with a Callaway Tournament. Despite the frustration no one had a moan, at least not verbally for which I'm thankful, and it was decided to go to Sri Thani for our Monday game.

12/07/10. Sri Thani, Stableford. Field of 10, plus 2 guests.
Winner. Gary Parks.40 points
Second. Jim Leatherhead. 39 points. (on countback)
Nearest the pin, par 3's.
Les Smith
Gary Parks
Norman Risky (X2)

Next event 19/07/10. Sri Thani, again.

Sri Thani 7th Dec.

The golf societies coffers are quite healthy at the moment. It is my intention that at the above venue that all players will have some of their green fees refunded by the society.
I will know nearer the time how much the society can afford, but at the moment I’m thinking in the region of 200baht per player.

Victory Park 20th Dec

The Harry Hopley Memorial Trophy will be played for on this day.

Player of the Year Award

Can you please give me your thoughts on the above.

I have been keeping a record of the results of the previous events played this year and thought we could use the results to calculate the Player of the Year Award.

The Player of the Year would be the person who accumulates the most points over the year. Points would be awarded as follows.

Winner of weekly stableford =3 points
Second in weekly stableford= 2 points
Third, if awarded, in weekly stableford= 1 point.

Winner of ‘A’ or ‘B’ flight monthly medal =2 points
Second in ‘A’ or ‘B’ flight monthly medal =1 point.

The reasoning of 2 points for a monthly medal winner is that there are fewer players in a flight than there in the stableford competition.

The winner of Player of the Year will receive an engraved trophy and a cash prize.

At the moment the points standings from the end of June are as follows.

1 Jacque Messier 7points
1 Anders Lincoln 7points
3 Kenny Leadbetter 6 points
3 Tero Salmela 6 points
5 Bob Jackson 5 points.
