ASKING AND SELLING PRICES FOR BARS ETC

Postby DRILLER » July 23, 2010, 11:51 am

its now wonder the asking prices and even the selling prices of some facilities are ridiculous when one sees places like the kinaree go for a million baht.

this kind of transcation simply encourages others that would not otherwise be selling to turn around and try and sell for another ludicrous amount of money as did the kinaree.

what are people thinking when a million baht is wasted on losing facility....maybe theyre not thinking.

it just goes to show why the thais are continously ridiculing us and the lucky farang sellers are joining in.

It's cheaper to rent an empty unit, fit it out and try and sell it for double the money!!!!
I know of at least one person here that does it for a living
There are a few bars that are making money here but they won't be for sale! [-( \:D/ ( No .. I haven't got a bar! )

There is good saying that goes around."If you want to make a million baht with a bar in Thailand"Come with 2.
There are plenty of other buisness's you can do in Thailand than owning a bar.

They are ridiculous,IMO,but I see it as people trying to recup their mistaken ''investments''

In my years here I have never been tempted at all, to spend my evenings in a bar let alone "invest" in one.
I imagine my the embarrassment of my old Mum back home responding to her friends questionioning what I do here.
Oh he's runs a bar pimping tarts.
Its no secret that most of them lose money, not difficult to see why, in general they are crappy tin roof places with uncomfortable chairs, crap music at high volume and a handful of big bottomed girls.
No attraction ether for me I would prefer to spend my drinking time in a country shop talking to my mates who in general have a more diverse vocabulary than what "Wot You Name & where you come from" ?

We will never know, maybe the previous owner of the Kinnaree kept all his receipts verifying that all the work done was costed well over 1 million so saves the new owner from spending,I recall the pictures of the place showed it quite large as an establishment with a good pooltable area as well, looked like expensive flooring and wood abound.
If bar owners are trying to use goodwill in their asking price then that is a different matter and is irrelevant since most drinkers would follow the previous owner to his next drinking hole venture :D

What I can't fathom out is why once busy bars with the same people running them are now empty.

What's changed?

Is it the exchange rate?

Are more punters more discerning, and what more comfort, like A/C comfortable chairs and no blaring music?
