Chess mates around? Club?

Postby joris » July 27, 2010, 8:38 am

I was a member of a chessclub when I lived in Europe and miss my hobby here in Udon.
I wonder if there are other people around here who have this interest as well.
My idea is to form a informal chessclub where we can practice both international and Thai chess.
Could be once of twice a week, preferable with a day in the weekend to enable working Thai people to join as well.

Location could be the Book House & coffee shop.
Interested? Then please send me an IM with your email-adress. Thanks!

I'd love to meet for chess occasionally. I love the game, but don't expect much competition from me at first. I'm REALLY out of practice. How do I send private messages on here to send you me email?

The first post on this subject was done my me (joris). Just below my avatar is a small button with PM written on it. If you click this, you can send me a private message. B.t.w. this post contains the same little button.

I can almost repeat 'Scorpio', except that my skills are less than pathetic.

Well, gentlemen, it looks like we've got a game going then!

I'm free most weekday evenings from about 18:45 onwards and on Saturdays from 14:45 onwards.

Let's agree on a day/time to meet up at the Bookhouse & Coffee Shop and take it from there.

I'm particularly looking forward to being slaughtered by, sorry, 'learning more' from the Dutch master!!!

:D

Shall we agree on saterdays then, 15.00 hours at the Bookhouse?
Then our Thai friends are able to join if they want. I assume the saterday is free for them?
I've got 2 sets of a chess-game: 1 international and 1 thai chess.
Should be enough for the first saterday, we'll see what happens in the future?

Mike beats Joris! Yes, he did it! It was a close one, but the difference of just one pawn made it 1-0.
Join the club? You're welcome at the Book house, saterdays at 15.00 hours.

Now we need someone who beats Mike....

Hi, A chess club is great news, I played for about 1 year in Udon until my highly respected and able oponent sadly died. I have not really played since then .... 18 months.I. . travel to UK tomorrow for about 3 weeks . On my return I will be very happy to turn up wherever, whenever. Do you need any extra chess sets.? nigel2007smith@yahoo.co.uk Regards

Hi Joudon,
First saterday: 2 persons, next one: 4 players, so we will soon have 64 players ;-)
So, yes, we might be in need of some extra sets soon. The quality should be reasonable. The size of the board is more important. Should match official standards which is the nicest size to play.
Have a nice time in the UK. Hope to see you soon.
