Ref K9 on map.
There's an entrance with "One stop shop" sign, go inside up the stairs on your left.
Marriage takes about 30 min; Not sure about divorce as yet

A bit longer! :( - and I had to bring witnesses too. Incidentally, I believe you can do at any Amphoe, as long as you have original documentation. e.g.I was married in Nongbualamphu, but divorced down in Phuket.

Hi,
Last year took me nearly one and one and a half hours at the family office. no witnesses required. Had to see about 3 people before seeing boss man. If your wife wants to change her surname to yours, you have to go to the office where they do the I.D. cards to get this done. Then I had to get a official translation for my government. Call it a good mornings work. If you have been married before might be safer to bring your divorce papers. Was not asked for mine but you could be TIT. I asked wife is it as easy to get a divorce, if looks could kill.
Cheers Doug.

Took me just over 30 mins; no witnesses, staff from the office obliged (without asking), had my Affirmation for freedom to marry and Divorce papers, all they seemed interested in was the Affirmation, Statement of Divorce Confirmation from GF Amphur Office (she was married before) Passport and GF ID card.
No ceremony, just sign here, sign there, and a fair bit of photo copying which I undertook, saw office supervisor then Registrar who signs the certificate.
Wife wanted my surname so that ment a trip back to her Amphur for change of ID and Name change on House Book.

An acquaintance recently divorced. It was uncontested, however the couple made & signed an agreement/contract for what she would get. Two witnesses required, lawyer not required, completed in about an 1hr.

It should be noted that as In England the divorce is not made Absolute until at least 310 days has elapsed, maybe longer depending on individual circumstances .So you are not immediately free to remarry again .This link gives details and also advises on obtaining the Affirmation of freedom to marry from your Embassy .

In the UK, Decree Absolute can be applied for after 6 weeks and 1 day following the Decree Nisi.
After receiving the Decree Absolute you are free to re-marry.

But of course we were discussing Marrage and divorce in Thailand .Its 310 days here . I merely mentioned the English absolute as an example and because I am not sure what that period is called here . Thanks anyway it might be useful if anyone is thinking of going back to a UK divorce . :-"
Whilst posting perhaps I should mention that the time period is not enough to qualify for a visa extension based on marriage even if you had a potential bride lined up .

Thanks for pointing that out, you can see the piece that threw me.
Intersting final point you've made if anyone is thinking of the Visa possibilities, having already done it twice in the Uk and tied the knot here, Im in no hurry to go thro the 'divorce' bit again even tho it will be a damn site cheaper here than what it cost me in the UK
