Better than the Slade Novel

Postby parrot » August 28, 2010, 9:27 am

The Steven Slade novel had a pretty good beginning, but the ending sure sucked.
No need to fret, there's sure to be a good ending from this developing novel......(extracted from today's BP)

Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout has confirmed that Sirichoke Sopha, a close aide to Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, met him to make inquiries into how ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra's plane could be brought down.

Just possibly a bit of 'sour grapes' on Mr. Bout's part as...
A Thai appeals court last week ordered Viktor Bout's extradition within three months to face four terrorism-related charges in the U.S. Neither American nor Thai officials have said when exactly he will be extradited or specified the bureaucratic steps required before it can take place

But you could be right it has the start of a novel as Sirichoke Sopha has a different take on the situation!!
Thaksin to sue MP for linking him with Bout
Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra will lodge a defamation lawsuit against Democrat MP Sirichoke Sopha over his public statement linking Thaksin with reported arms smuggling into Sri Lanka, legal adviser Noppadol Pattama said yesterday.

My first thought was that it may be a legal maneuver by Bout, which he hopes will keep him in Thailand for as long as possible.

I am sure the place he wants to be is the USA.

Thailand's PM approves Viktor Bout extradition to US

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-11763221

Interesting piece.... :D
Mr Bout, a former Russian air force officer, is thought to have knowledge of Russia's military and intelligence operations.

Analysts say Moscow is perhaps worried he might turn state witness on trial in the US, and reveal more than Russia would be comfortable with.

Viktor Bout flown out of Thailand

http://www.bangkokpost.com/breakingnews ... f-thailand

But none of that terrible queuing up & waiting to board stuff... :D :D
Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout left Thailand aboard a US government jet at 1.27pm on Tuesday, police said.

About 50 police, including snipers, were at Don Mueang airport to ensure his extradition was incident free.

The 20-seat plane was also carrying two pilots and six officials from the US Drug Enforcement Administration, according to police.

So US Trade agreements and military support, beat the old fashioned Russian facility fees to be paid.

Last thing you need is a privateer intruding on the business when you are the world's largest arms dealer! :-"

"I'll decide which rebel groups get access to military weapons, based on what suits MY geopolitical fancy at the time"

What hypocrisy! :-k

A closed mind is the last refuge of the liberal elitist's, seeking Utopia through control of the masses, because they know better what's best for mankind.

What hypocrisy!"

The hypocrisy is pretending or denying all counties don't act in their own self interest,,,,,,,, throughout history, and has nothing to do with their place in the "power list". Why some would want to seemingly ignore this most basic trait of nation-states is beyond me. LL
