Moving House Service

Postby Leigh1979 » August 31, 2010, 12:01 pm

I have been looking to find a removalist service. If possible from Udon Thani, we will be moving from Udon down to Bangkok soon. ( Have not had much success in finding a company :-k )
Wanting to hire a truck and removal team to get the move done, if anyone has information on contacting a company that can do this it would be appreciated..!! Thanks. :D

I just had a quick search on Google and there are many removal companies based in Bangkok, catering for international AND domestic moves, nationwide. I doubt you'll find a specialist based in Udon.
I did move up here with a moderate amount of stuff from Phuket. Along with persons returning to Issan and their possessions, it all went on the back of a typical Thai, tarpaulin-covered truck. Very, very reasonable cost. I did my best to pack things well and the more important, delicate stuff (including me and the wife! ) went in our car. No insurance or guarantees etc., but we knew the people were local.
I have seen 'proper' removal company vehicles somewhere. I'm not sure, possibly Pickfords or TNT.

This link might help http://classifieds.thaivisa.com/service ... 39068.html

As Brian has stated,if it was me,I would start by contacting some companies that do international moves and ask if they can recommend a company in Bangkok for domestic house moves. 8)

Moved from Udon to Ubon last year, I couldn't find a "removal company" as such.
We hired a tarpaulin covered truck.
This was found opposite Makro where they park up on the road at night and leave their 'phone numbers on display.
We hired a squad of guys at the Udon and a squad of guys at the Ubon ends for the loading and un-loading respectively.
Truck hire was 7,000 baht (I think .. can't remember), big truck .. quite a lot of clobber.
No complaints and no damage ... (just miserable leaving Udon ... not my choice!!)

JVK moved us from Bangok to Phuket a few years ago, then 2008 Crown moved us from Phuket to Udon. Both firms very professional packing and unpacking with a team of about ten, only worth it if protecting valuable furniture etc.

Preben at FBI knows of a trucking company and he charges no commision. I used them to move from BKK (Thonburi, Wong Wian Yai) to Udon and they were efficient, cost effective, timely (no Thai time) and trustworthy. I know of another person that used the same people/company to move from here to Ban Chang. You just need to box up your goods so they can load it into the truck and unload it. Cost me 8000B in 2007, well worth it as I lived in a three story apartment and they carried it down the stairs and loaded into the truck and then moved it into my house here in Udon.
