Postby malc123 » September 2, 2010, 12:36 pm

I am running Vista Ultimare (Copy)

I like to make home movies using windows Movie Maker. Have beeen working ok, but now when I try to Burn to DVD, it tells me that computer cannot find a DVD Burner. Plays movie and music, also says that all driver are working for the DVD Burner.

Have I turned some thing off, have looked in Devices and the burner is there.
Have tryed to find the burner online, tryed to find it in the back up disc. Nero does not seen to work in WMM.

Any Idea's

Slightly off-topic, but... do they now make DVD players (standalone) that you can plug a flash drive into and play movies, like .avi's, .mpeg's, etc.?

Think I heard they do, and would save lots of money burning DVD's, watching them, then binning them.

If so, where can I buy them, for about how much?

Cheers, DUDE

Sorry Malc can't answer your question but why do you burn the movies to DVD? I used to but they get damaged and scratched etc so I bought an external hard drive and keep all my movies on there, play them on the TV through the laptop.
Just a suggestion

I do that to, but I like to give the DVD to my friends that are on the film from the trips that we take, also to the wifes family lots of film with the Thai babys on them.

When I am gone they will not be able to see them, on a disc will be easy.

Do an Advanced Google "free DVD burner for Vista" & put the word 'trial' in the 'exclude' word box - a load of programs will say they are free, but that is only for a useless cut down version or a short term (date wise) trial version.
That will not catch them all, but it will exclude some. Read the information about what you are getting before you bother to download to exclude the rest.
I don't have Vista but I am sure that there will be a ton of free quality burners available.
I have not used the Windows player since I have been in Thailand, initially because I had the 'copy' of Windows issue, but after because there are just much better products that are easier to use (for playing & burning) than theirs.... :D

Thanks for the link,

Tryed the sight, only takes you to a driver Scanner sight, with a download which scannes then ask's you to buy it.

When I load a blank DVD disc the computer does not find it, keeps asking to load a disc in..

Hi again!

Windows Movie Maker is perhaps an older version which can not burn DVD. If so then try to download newest version of W M M. This should do the trick ''I hope"".
