Well, the optimists who reckoned that it would take the new players at City a month to gel into a team appear to have got it wrong. I thought City looked very good. Did anyone notice Man City had 6 English players in their team on Monday.
Things looking not so good for Pool. That was, apart from Cole, the best team they could put out and were a very poor second best. To add to their woes I read that the interest rate on their debts has increased by 2% due to them failing to make repayments on their outstanding loans.

The financial situation at Liverpool must be very acute. I keep reading that Barcelona are making cash plus player offers for Mascherano and Liverpool have made it very clear that cash only, is the only deal they will consider.

Going back to a previous point, I agree that the top six versus bottom six matches will be even more lop sided this season. Personally, I don't mind a few cricket scores, but what I hate is when the lower team just defends with 11 men, making it a defence versus attack type of game. A bit like a few, ok most, of the early world cup games. But at least the premier league has a proper ball that allows passes over 10 yards to be completed!!

Apologies to Pool fans if my previous post was a little alarming for them. I made a mistake with my American owners. It's not the owners of Pool who have had their interest rates increased by 2%, but the Man Utd owners.

Perhaps it's been mentioned already and is general knowledge. Sometimes I'm a bit late!

But did anyone catch the BBC Panorama programme on the Glazers and Man U? I caught some of it on Truevisions other day. The Americans have debts reported at £1.1 billion! If i grasped it correctly, the programme implied money from United was, um, 'helping out' elsewhere. No interviews given by the Glazers, or the League about contradictions to the financial rules governing football clubs.

Chelsea 2 Stoke 0. Absolutely gutted, ruined my weekend. Ancelotti has to go. I expect better. Anything less than a 6-0 win is total failure. :D

Ah getting back to the real world galee - & at home!! :D
Bad result for Spurs losing at home. Guess that is the relaxation after the efforts in Europe in the week. Harry has seen hardly any of his transfer wishes (out & in) come off. I suspect that they are not in for a very easy season this year after the wonders of last.
Citi will also be shocked by their last gasp loss to Sunderland. With the greatest respect to Sunderland (& they appear to be another Jeckyll & Hyde side) if you can't something (& probably all 3 points) from them then the title is out of reach.
Everton had another shocking result against a Villa side that are really there for the taking. Looks like another season of playing second half catch up for them.

My Premiership transfer of the window.
Eidur Gudjohnsen among four new signings for Stoke

Class player, only 31 & Premiership experience that shouts quality (with Chelsea).

Tottenham clinch £8m Rafael van der Vaart deal

Might be a great deal as well - but unproven in Premiership (as yet)...

Not sure E G is a good buy for Stoke.
Odds are he will end up as an overpaid prima donna who gives the ball away a lot. That's not to say it's his fault, but unfortunately his footballing brain will work at a different level to the rest of the team. Newcastle have the same problem with Jonas ........ he will thrill the crowd, beat several players every time he gets the ball, but when he looks up for someone to pass to !! NOBODY. Put the guy in the Man Utd team, and he would be one of the stars of the premiership, coz there would be other players on the same wavelength, but at Newcastle he ends up having to take another player or two on by himself or make a 30 - 70% pass which usually fails.

Could easily happen that way Statto. Only (generalizing a little :D ) it tends to happen more to players who are new to the Premiership. Gudjohnsen never struck me as much of a prima donna in the past - although he has had the same childish acts of petulance that most footballers seem to suffer from.
It looks like it will be a while until Stoke see the best out of him, by his own admission
Stoke's Eidur Gudjohnsen in need of match fitness
but he does have a goalscoring record in the Premiership...

Yes he does have a goalscoring record in the Prem, but in those days he had top class players round him to provide the assists !!

Well great opening match to this weekends' games - just a pity on the final result.... :D
Everton scored a great breakaway goal after some terrific goalkeeping from Howard. United then dominated & eased to a 3-1 lead with 90 minutes having gone on the clock. Then 2 injury time goals make it 3 all....
I guess as United lost this fixture in February last season they should see it as a point gained, although I guess Sir A didn't say that in the dressing room... :D
Everton fans must be reasonably pleased after 3 pretty poor opening games to the campaign & maybe then can get back on track now.
Mr. Rooney was left at home by Sir A. - despite what he appeared to have said earlier. He will, apparently, play in the mid-week European game against Glasgow Rangers...
