Don't normally write about where I stay but this one was a bit different .
From the outside a very pleasant refurbished wood building.

Then our room overlooking the Mekhong. Traditional wood panelling but with a difference . The difference being a huge coconut palm going through the floor and ceiling .

Apparently the owners were especially fond of it and didn't want to cut it down .You can imagine with my weak bladder I managed to bang my head several times during the night .

The top , complete with coconuts .

Never mind I was happy sipping my whiskey with such a tranquil view .

Whilst the wife went souvenir hunting over the road .

Yes, simply stunning but, ummm, do the rules not allow you to give a name or telephone number?

Many thanks Aardvark. No matches there although they did have the hotel I stayed at at the beginning of the month. It's always interesting what people think of somewhere you have experienced.

Sorry I didn't want to appear as recommending them because as you will see on the Chiangkhan topic different people have varying ideas about quality and price etc. Whilst I found it quite charming and the owners, husband and wife who were both school teachers, a friendly couple, it was ,because of its style, comparatively basic .Anyway its called Chiangkhan Riverview guest House. Phone 08 0741 8055. www.chiangkhan.741.com email chongruk-ck@hotmail.com
Rooms from 3-800bht .
