How much would you/partner be willing to pay for a สส9999 license plate?

In the US, vanity plates generally cost less than $100 per year.....ILV2EAT, STFU-PLS, IFARTED, and a plate on a Hummer that says GIVEMEA.....all can be yours for less than $100 per year.
Thais, on the other hand, pay big Baht for number plates......last year's auction winners were: สส999 for a cool 8,100,000 Baht. ชช9999 for 3,009,999 Baht, and the bargain basement ณณ9999 for a mere 2,800,000 Baht.
Now, with the introduction of a new license plate (digit, 2 characters, 4 digits), there'll be even greater opportunities for the government to roll in the cash on their license plate auctions. 5.2 billion Baht over the past 8 years alone!

And to think, even for 5.2 billion Baht, no one could have come up with a plate as good as the <$100 version that says D-WIFED or the upside-down Michigan plate that fooled the censors with 37OH55V.

Good scotch mixed with Coke, Thai politics, a bundle of Baht for a number plate......there are some things I'll never understand no matter how long I live here.

OTs eldest is named Michelle. I always called her Mig. Laziness I suppose. Anyway I picked up a number plate for her car when she got through her test that is MIG XX. I can't remember how much it cost. She likes it.
