Ceiling Fan With Lights

Postby Asiaphile » August 22, 2011, 10:59 am

This may sound like a dumb question, but where, apart from HomePro, can I buy a ceiling fan with lamps?
I didn’t like the fans I saw there, and the shades of those that I saw at Tool Pro reminded me of my grandmother’s ceiling lamp.

Got mine from Global, a lot cheaper than Home pro for the same thing, make sure you get steel fan blades, push the air a lot more than the plywood ones. They dont seem to have the plain dome shaped light diffusers, I tried all the suppliers, only ethnic tarty looking things, the remote control fan lights are the go to.

I have the cheapo sort of steel blade fans that run a mile a minute......and the more expensive fans with lights and they both run at half the speed of the cheapo model. One of the expensive ones is a Hunter....very good name, excellent quality, but the speed sucks. The other is another namebrand back in the US, but same same problem with mediocre speeds. I've even tested the sample fans installed at Homepro and Global and get the same results. Any idea why a fan like the Hunter would run at roughly half the speed that the same fan runs back in the US??

Yes they do look a little dated and not very effective either.

Try these websites, they have a fair range of ceiling fans with lights http://www.ceifan.com/index.php?langtyp ... pypelist=1

Ceiling Fan With Lights

Be careful buying the ones with the lights. They churn up a lot of electricity. If I were you I would buy the steel ones and install bracket lights on the walls; looks nicer as well.

I went to Global this afternoon to check out their collection.
Perhaps I'm too demanding but I found their stock to be equally antiquated.
Buying fans online doesn't quite appeal to me. In reality they may look completely different than the picture you saw on line. Moreover, you can't check their performance.
So I've put off the plan for the time being. :(

We had the same problem when buying fans for our new home....We went to Tool Pro and found a much better selection there...That was 2 years ago..
