Stayed there last year with the wife and kids.Excellent hotel with swimming pool and we got a huge suite room for 2000 baht including breakfast......ordinary sized rooms will be a lot cheaper.
Downside....breakfast wasnt that great and the hotel is not centrally located. No problem if youve got your own car but even so I would think you could get a tuk-tuk quite easily.

Are there any cheaper hotels, overlooking the river and more centrally located in Nong Khai?
Thanks

I usually stay at the Nong Khai Grand and have been reasonably happy with it. It has a pool and most of the facilities you would expect to find. From this hotel is it still a bit of a hike into town, but I quite like the local area for a quiet drink. The Music Room cocktail bar is okay, though doesn't seem as lively as it used to be, and there is also an interesting cafe directly across the road.
