Udon Golf Society Round Results Monday 22nd September 2014

A good roll up of 10 players rolled up today for our new tee off time of 9 15am at Srithani Forest Golf Course.

Light rain fell for the whole round but the course was still in good enough condition for us to play the ball as it lay except if one had mud on it. That however in the 3 ball I played in did not occur.

New members Jerald and Jan Svensen, plus the return of former member Jock Fleming added to our group and we look forward to them continuing with us.

The Lucky Bandit, Tony Jones, the best player on the planet playing off a 22 hccp (lol) won the day with a 22 point front nine followed up with a 15 point back to record 37 points. Jovial Joe Mc Gowan came in second with 33 points followed by Rex individual in 3rd with 32.
This Wednesday we will be at Victory Pk for a 9 15am Sports Day Tee off for those who would like to join us.

Terry Aston

Organizer.

UBOLRAT Dam Udon Golf Friday Results 26th September 2014
A good roll up of 10 teed off early at Ubolrat this morning. The Ryder Cup commencing on TV at 1 30pm forced the earlier start.
Course was very damp under foot due to the amount of rain that had fallen the past few days. This certainly added to the length of some of the holes when there was minimal run.
Graham Firth fresh from his Golf trip to Las Vegas was on fire on the front nine with 23 points and added 14 more on the back nine to win the day with 37 points. Trevor Edge survived a fair amount of sledging to result in his second spot with 34 points while Tony Jones came in third with 33.
Chuck Mc Morris and David Exley won the two closest to the pin holes.
Udon Society Round this Monday at Srithani with a 9 15am tee off.

Udon Golf Society Round Results 30th September 2014
Perfect weather, clear blue skies and the temperature reminding us that summer and really hot weather is not far away this morning.
A good roll up for today’s round with the course in quite good condition, even though the Ground staff had begun sanding the greens following yesterday’s tournament.
Graham Firth in very good touch at the moment won the day with 33 points with Rex individual 31 and Tony Jones 30 points just behind.
Tony and Graham also won the 2 closest to the pin on the par 3 holes.
Next week our Society Round will return to Monday 9 15am tee off.

Ubolrat Friday Udon Golf Results 3rd October 2014
Summer heat will soon be upon us we were reminded this morning as we teed off in our regular Friday round at Ubolrat Dam.
Course was still a touch soft underfoot which added to the humidity level. Most felt the effect of two days on the course and concentration was quite difficult for many to maintain.
We had nine in our group today and welcomed Bent Knudsen after quite a long absence from playing with us.
Preferred Lies was permitted again today but was rarely used, however due to the minimal run of our balls on the fairway it was necessary to be able to tee the ball up occasionally.
Tony Jones with 32 points won the day narrowly from a much improved performance by Peter Hellery who snatched second place from Rex individual both with 31 points on count back.
Bent Knudsen and Terry Aston won the two closest to the par 3 pin holes.
Terrific 2 days of golf an social interaction for those of us who stayed over last night at the Araya Motel after our Texas Scramble round..

Next Udon Society Round this coming Monday 6th October 9 15am tee off at Srithani.

Unfortunately today we learned of the passing in the UK of one of our Golfing buddies and very good friend Richard Feltham. Richard has suffered the effects of cancer and all the treatment the past 2 years. His courage and ability to maintain a positive outlook even when facing the end was admirable.

No one loved their life style here in Thailand more than Richard, he was one of our first members of the Isaan Farang Golf Group and until his illness was a regular at all of our fixtures in Khon Kaen.

Richard was a good man and a great mate to many of us. His friendly approachable style was always there to see and he will be missed by all those who had contact with him.

His legacy to those who knew him is his never say die attitude and his love of mateship.

RIP Richard Feltham, you were much loved and respected.

Udon Golf Society Round at Srithani Golf Course 6th October 2014
Temperature today was milder than of late as we teed off at Srithani this morning.
Only 7 members in attendance, but good to welcome back Bob Strutt who made a return from his recent hip replacement operation.
The course had quite a bit of broken tree boughs an bush strewn across the fairways as a result of the storm last night. A large group of workers however were there early to get the course back in shape.
Rex individual 35 points and Graham Firth our most consistent golfers at this time with 35 and 34 points respectively easily won the days round.
Bob Strutt won the only Closest to the Pin on the par 3 hole.

Small field today at Ubolrat with the New Lucky aka Peter Hellery just pipped Tony Jones for the win with 31 points. Peter aside from his incredible luck lol putted brilliantly to record his second win for the week.
Denni Price won Closest to the Pin.

Hi, I have just joined this forum to find out any info about Richard's passing. Does anyone know if Richard was a poster on the TeakDoor forum. We are trying to find out about a member there who has not been heard of for about 2-3 weeks and we are just wondering if he is one and the same. I would appreciate any info, thanks.

UDON GOLF SOCIETY ROUND AT SRITHANI 13TH OCTOBER 2014
A good rollup this morning of 8 teed off at Sri Thani Golf Course in perfect conditions this morning.
Weather was fantastic and the fairways much improved. The greens were ok until they cored one of them during our back nine. One assumes they will cut back the rough shortly seeing the heavy rains seem to have ended now.
Tony Jones with 40 points blitzed the field and dropped closer to the handicap level he and the rest of us feel is appropriate for his skill. Graham Firth with 35 points beat Paul Samee on a count back for second place. The scores today overall where the closest for quite some time which suggests that the course condition has improved.
Peter Hellery or Mr Par 3 won both closest to the pin holes.
Next week most of the members will be in Kohn Kaen but we will post later in the week if there will be a Society Round on.

Hi udonexp123, I've tried to find where I can send you a pm but can't find anything on your profile page, maybe I need to have more posts up.
Do you know what Richards username was on TeakDoor? If you would pm me and let me know to confirm who I think Richard was on TD, thank you.

Victory Pk Results 13th October 2014
Fantastic weather and conditions today at Victory Pk for our regular Wednesday Comp.
Fairways and greens excellent, but if one wanted to be super critical it was only the bunkers that perhaps could be regarded as not up to scratch.
Graham Firth aka Mr Consistent had a great round to win the day with 39 points just narrowly from Jerald with 38 points. Graham also won the only Closest to the pin prize for our par 3 hole.
Scores. Graham Firth 39,Jerald 38,Terry Aston 36,Peter Hellery 35,Rex individual 34,Tony Jones 31.

October 2014 IFGG Results
Tuesday 21 Ubolrat.
Nine of us teed up on Tuesday which included guest players Jan Svensen and Paul Samee.
Course was in good condition and with the Player of the Year points tight there was a good competitive feel among the group.
Paul Samee with 34 points won the day but closely followed by Peter Hellery, Denni Price and Jan Svensen on 33 points. With Graham Firth and Tony Jones on 31 as well, Wednesdays round promised to be a ripper.
Jan Svensen and Paul Samee won the 2 closest to the pin on the par 3 holes.
Terry Aston for the first time in 2 years snatched the Crazy hat with a measly 20 points from Chuck Mc Cormick which of course ensured Terry got a well-deserved ribbing.
Wednesday 22nd Singha Pk.
Chuck, Terry and Denni teed off first, followed by Graham, Tony and Trevor with the leaders Peter, Paul and Jan in the last group.
The course was in good condition but still far too wet as they always seem to over water the fairways. We played Preferred Lies as a result as mud on one’s ball was almost the situation from each shot.
Scores were high with 4 players in the buffer zone but Peter Hellery 36 points displaying his best form for the year just nipped Trevor Edge also on 36 points on a count back. Graham Firth also gained 3rd spot on a count back with 34 points from Paul Samee.
Terry Aston won the only Closest to the Pin prize on the par 3 hole.
Overall Winner for October went to Peter Hellery with a combined 69 points.
Chuck Mc Cormick snatched the Crazy Hat and Wooden spoon back from a somewhat nervous Terry Aston lol.
As a result the Player of the Year Award is still wide open with most still in the calculation with only our November 2 day Cup Stroke rounds to play.
Kosa Hotel-We tried the Kosa Hotel this trip but was disappointed as the main reason we went there was to be able to have a swim after our round. Getting removed from the pool pre 4 pm was a negative as frankly paying 600 baht more compared to Phantipa is a waste.

Udon Golf Society Round 27th October 2014.
A good roll up today at Srithani and with the weather perfect and the greens greatly improved some very good golf was on display.
Mr Consistent Graham Firth won the round with 37points closely followed by Jereld Sawyer and John Mc Morris on 36 points.
Good to have Johnny Mac back after a long absence.
Bob Strutt and Jereld won the two closest to the pin on the par 3 holes.
Other Scores-Terry Aston 32,Scotty Taylor 30,Peter Hellery 28,Rex individual &Jan Svensen 27, Bob Strutt 25,Joe Mc Gowan 24,Tony Jones 22.
Other News- John Ward has been released from hospital following the blood clots he has been treated for. If he does as the Medico’s advise he should be back playing by Christmas.

Udon Golf Results at Victory Pk 29th October 2014
Quite a few groups at Victory Pk Golf Course early before our Udon Golf group teed off at 8 45 am today.
There were only 7 of us teeing off and a pleasure to do so as the weather although quite humid was ok. The fairways were a touch soft as they have had a fair degree of rain lately in Nong Khai which minimized the amount of run ones ball got.
The course is still undergoing work on the fairways which hopefully will improve the run as they are replacing once again the crab grass that acts as a brake on your ball once it hits the ground.
Tony Jones after his embarrassing 22 points last Monday that earned him an appropriate ribbing was determined today to turn that around. His 33 points was an excellent effort although having his left golf shoe glued to the tee box surface could be interpreted as getting unfair assistance. Graham Firth with 30 points came second.
Due to the fact none of the group came close to getting in the regular buffer zone the Standard Scratch was reduced to 32 points.
Jan Svensen won both of the par 3 closest to the pin prizes.
Jan also created a record in long hitting for our groups in hitting his second shot on the 18th hole 20 yards over the putting green.
Our regular Friday round will be as per normal at Ubolrat Friday with a 9 15am tee off.

Ubolrat Friday Results 31st October 2014
Very warm as eleven of us teed off at Ubolrat this morning. Humidity was right up there and a reminder the change of season was upon us.
Course fairways could do with a cut as there was minimal run and some of the greens had been sanded. This could have been the reason for low scores as 33 points was the maximum score recorded by Tony Jones and Denni Price.
Tony won on a count back over Denni with Jan Svensen in third spot with 32 points.
Tony also won the only closest to the pin prize.
Udon Society Round at Srithani on Monday for a 9 15am tee off.

UDON GOLF SOCIETY RESULTS 3RD November 2014
Due to a High School Tournament of sorts being played at Srithani today we played our weekly Society Round at Wing 23 instead.
The course was in a greatly improved condition except for the greens that make putting a real hit and miss situation with one’s ball bumping up and down on its journey.
Regardless of this it was an enjoyable round even with a small group in attendance. If the greens could be improved it would certainly result in more rounds being scheduled there.
Graham Firth with 36 points was overall winner as well as getting the closest to the pin prize on the par 3 15th hole.
Scores Graham Firth 36 Joe Mc Gowan & Terry Aston 34,Peter Hellery 30, Paul Samme 27,Chuck Mc Cormick and Tony Jones 24.
Next week’s round on the 10th will return to Srithani with a 9 15am tee off.
This Wednesday 5th we also have a round at Victory Pk with a 8 45 am tee off for those interested.
