Post by dtammakhung » September 29, 2014, 1:33 pm

UDON THANI TO SONGKHLA AND BACK

Need something bigger than a tuk tuk or pick up truck. I'm flexible with time.

If truck hire a possibility what is biggest truck I can drive on Thai car license?

Parked in the road outside the new football/sports stadium or, alternatively parked in the road just befor turning left into the old Lotus carpark, there is usually to be found at least one large truck with large sign on advertising they are for hire, together with a telephone number. Quite often the owner/drivers are in the vicinity. I have used them on occasions in the past and been satisifed with both service & price although, of course, you need to supervise that the loading and unloading is carried out with care, if you value your possessions :-"

Looked into ths possibility some years ago. Advised would not be legal, and probably not a good idea, in any event! :-k
Good luck.

I hired a large 6 wheel truck to haul my household stuff up here from Samui, 16,500thb incl 2 laborers so I didn't have to lift anything. Arrived on time no hassles whatsoever.

No sweat Joe.. :D
To me that seems a very reasonable rate for a fair old journey.
That must be getting on for 1,500 kms + the ferry..

Honestly I was shocked by the rate. Told the wife something was up and to look somewhere else as there was no way rental+fuel+ full crew=16.5k

I was wrong and we were very happy with their service. They even cared for our dog who was caged and riding freight while we flew.

It is unlimited cubic for a 6 wheeler in Thailand providing you avoid bridges and overhead cables for the journey. The same can be said for pick ups.

OT........... \:D/
