cooking a pudding
here's a mad recipe for you... or should I say DING DONG
1000g granny smith apples
500g mixed orange and lemon peel
1000g dried cherries
1000g dried plums
4000g black sultanas
2000g gold sultanas
1100g brown sugar
500g flaked almonds
1100g beef suet
500g flour
500g breadcrumbs
10 large eggs
20g cinnamon
30g nutmeg
20g allspice
400ml brandy
and a partridge in a pear tree
mix and steam for 8 hours **

Wot No Brown Ale
First time I was allowed to go to the off license alone (about 7 or 8yrs old) was to get the Brown Ale for the xmas puds ...... and they served me how times have changed

Not sure why they used to use Brown Ale, but can only assume it was for moisture and to get the dark brown colour ..... certainly wasn't for alcohol content as Mann's was only about 2%

An old Xmas cake reshappy
Ingredients
• 1 cup water
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 cup brown sugar
• lemon juice
• 4 large eggs
• nuts
• 1 (1500 ml) bottle vodka
• 2 cups dried fruit
Directions
Sample the Vodka to check quality.
Take a large bowl, check the Vodka again.
to be sure it is of the highest quality, pour one level cup and drink.
Repeat.
Turn on the electric mixer.
Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.
Add one teaspoon sugar.
Beat again.
At this point it is best to make sure that the Vodka is shtill OK.
try another cup-- just in case.
Turn off the mixerer.
Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in a cup of dried fruit.
Pick fruit up off floor.
Mix on the turner.
If the dried fruit gets stuck in the beaterers, pry it loose with a drewscriver.
Sample the Vodka to check for tonsisticity.
Next sift two cups of salt.
Or something.
Who giveshz a whip.
Check the Vodka.
Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.
1. Add one
Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink.
Whatever you can find.
Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over.
Don't forget to beat off the turner.
Finally throw the bowl through the window, finish the Vodka and kick the cat.
Cherry Mistmas!

Statto: Suggest the major reason, back in the century when you were that young would have been the difference in COST! came out spot on 250g plus another teaspoon of brandy to finish them off, now store in the bottom of the fridge till christmas
