Another question that might be asked is how many of the Thai bashers are also bashers of immigrants specifically and conditions generally in their home land?
As much as you have to accept Thai culture, for want of a better word, you also have to accept that some people love to moan.

You should probably clarify that a bit 93. In Oz the Woman would likely get 60% if Children were involved, but only 50% if they were grown up. In my case in Oz, the ex could only claim half of what my property was worth at the time we were Married. And of course I was not entitled to anything I'd bought in Thailand .....

A further bit of clarification Aardy - did you mean your (Oz) ex was entitled to 50% of the increase in value of your property after you were married ie when you married, your property was worth $x, and when you divorced it was worth $x+y, and she was entitled to 50% of $y?

That is certainly my understanding, and experience. But as the merchant seaman says on another thread, things may have changed over the past 50 years.

Correct, my TW could only claim 50% of the equity of the House from the time she moved in until we divorced. I was lucky however as Her Lawyers after speaking with me advised her that since I'd re- mortgaged to build her house in Thailand that the Judge may well find in favour of me, and in that case she may infact have to compensate me to the tune of xx amount. She dropped all claims and begged me over the phone to just divorce quietly, witch of course I agreed to.

This could be a great soap opera and we will eventually see James go full circle a number of times, starting in this video as I hate Thailand, then I love Thailand and then back to I f,,,,n hate Thailand when she eventually scams him out of what ever he had left.

This was also reported on Channel 3 News this evening along with a few other video's that were staged for TAT.

My wife showed me the video today. Obviously a setup. Things like that can happen (if your lucky), but the first thing that came to mind was that he was now on overstay and immigration would get him ....

Or possible get him for working without a work permit.
