Retirement visa
Get a yellow book, and you will never need a certificate of residence from immigration again.
Retirement visa
I will try and make this as clear as possible for renewal of retirement visa.
Mine was due for renewal on 17th October 2014 which is the date I attended.
I received a stamp stating under consideration, I kept my passport and had to return on 19th November, again which I did.
I was in and out of the office in 5-10 minutes on 19th November with my next 90 day report return date of 16th February 2015 - stamped of course
The only problem is that this ball-ache procedure will mean more stamps in your pages. Soon there will be no room on their desks for flocking stamps.

So, technically, even though you have requested an extension of 365 days you are only being given an extension of 335 days from the time they issue it
Wonder what their reaction would be if someone gave them B1742 (11/12's of the annual extension charge for 11/12's of the time)

And the new one STARTED when they put it into his passport ...... it was the choice of Immigration to leave him for one month WITHOUT an extension

Keep it up and soon you'll have to pay 1900 baht for a one month extension while waiting for the approval, then another 1900 baht a month later for the 12 month extension.

Tried to extend my 12 month Non - OA in Udon this morning. Doesn’t expire until 27/12 but usually do early so I can visit the kids in Aust for Xmas.
Not going home this year but my 800k is in a 12 month term deposit maturing 29/11 so still have to get the extension before then.
First problem was the letter from kbank because it showed only the closing balance. The passbook showed opening balance, interest payments and closing balance.
Had to return to bank and get them to include balances as at Sept, Oct and Nov, even though they were all the same as current closing balance?
Had no problems with the 800k being in a term deposit at Immigration. Two customer service girls at Kbank said the money had to be in a savings account, fortunately someone with a little more authority told them it was ok and instructed them to give me the letter.
Back at immigration I signed all the documentation I had submitted and also 2 new pages that immigration had inserted. These were an acknowledgement that I understood the new severe overstay penalties and re-entry bans.
Was asked for and gave 2,000 baht. I was then told to come back 27/12 with only my passport and they would issue the new 1 year extension stamp. The girl explained the delay was because “the big boss” had to approve the extension. As mentioned earlier in this thread a large “under consideration” stamp was placed in my passport.
Before leaving I asked for a receipt in case of problems next month. I was then given a receipt for 1,900 baht and the 100 baht change!
Because of this change I will somehow have to change my 27/12 visa expiry date, preferably bring forward to Oct or Nov.
If not I may not be able to spend xmas with family in Aust again
Anyone with ideas on how to do this would be very much appreciated

If you're merely trying to leave Thailand in time to visit with family in Australia.....leaving say around 15-24 Dec.....I would go back to immigration and explain what you're trying to do and ask if your extension can be approved earlier. My guess is they'll accomodate.
I usually extend a month early....but this year, had to return to the US earlier than expected. I asked whether I could apply for my extention 45-50 days early. No problem. Of course, this was just before the new 30-day-delay-for-big-boss rule came into effect. You might want to have a soft itinerary on paper for them to see. Good luck.

Thanks for that Parrot. Not too worried about this year because not going home to see family until Feb 15.
Was considering spending xmas at the condo in Jomtien but not really that important either way. Think I'll test the water by going back to immigration mid December and see what happens. By next year things may have changed again.

It's been reported on here that Immigration along with all Gov't office's and schools will be closed from 26 Dec until 5 Jan.

I returned to the UT immigration office this morning to get my extension (long stay/retirement) stamp and a multiple entry stamp put in my passport. I had submitted my application on 10 November as my visa expired on 15 November and I was given a 30 day temporary extension (10 December) at that time.
My new/current non-immigrant O-A visa (retirement) will expire on 15 November 2015 even though it was issued today, 27 November 2014. So, it seems that no matter when the visa is issued the expiration date will be the same as it was in the past.
At least that was what happened today.
