For those planning travel on or around the above holiday dates (especially Songkran) it is advisable to book flights and rooms well in advance to ensure that they are available.

Please note that when a holiday occurs on a Monday there is an increased possibility of ATM machines running dry, the possibility is even greater during Songkran as shown below when, including the weekend, the banks are closed for four days.

Songkran 2014: Banks will close on Friday 11th April re-opening on Wednesday 16th April.

I apologise for the disrespect created by what appears to be automated word censorship software, it was not what I posted; the actual wording that I tried to post for that date can be seen at the BoT site through the link I provided above.

Ashamed to be English since 23rd June 2016 when England voted for racism & economic suicide.

Thanks Jimbo, nice to know when sending funds to wife for house remodeling. Now if you could come up with the official dates that alcohol can not be sold a lot of forum members would be able to plan ahead. :-)

The Bot are a step behind you with the news as they have not yet updated their list of official holidays for 2014.

This is a one-off holiday designed to create a long weekend break by inserting extra holiday on the Monday between the weekend and H.M. the Queen’s Birthday on Tuesday 12th August.

Please note that, as it will create a four day break, there is a high probability of some ATM machines running dry.

From MCOT:
11 August 2014 added as public holiday in Thailand

BANGKOK, July 3 -- August 11 this year has been added as an additional public holiday in Thailand.

Thailand’s National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) announced on Wednesday that Monday, August 11, will be an extra public holiday, creating a four-day weekend in addition to the annual public holiday on August 12, which is the birthday of Her Majesty an individual and Thailand's national Mother's Day.

According to NCPO Spokesman Col Winthai Suwari, the action is intended to allow Thai people to spend more time with their families during the long holiday, from August 9-12, and to stimulate the local economy and tourism industry. (MCOT online news)

Bank Holidays in Thailand for 2014

Obviously with the probability of ATM's running dry this coming weekend and the one in August, farangs will be flocking in droves to withdraw vast sums to maintain their decadent lifestyles, what we forget is that mnay smaller branches AKA the Malls, Big C and Tescos will possibly be open in any event, I have noticed over the years it would take a nuclear bomb to shut those places or similar even on Budda Days.

Ooooh tell me more. Vast sums suggests more than a few beers a night. May be a few ladies a night. What are many of you lads doing in your spare time? [-X

2015 Holidays:

There is an Android Ap that you can download from the Google Store, RJ, called
Buddhist Holy Days 2018

It is a calendar Ap that also has a
Holiday tab that lists all Thai holidays & if they are Public holidays &/or Bank Holidays..

I searched วันหยุดประจำปีของธนาคาร - ธนาคารกรุงเทพ for bank holidays for Bangkok Bank and got the list below. It's a google translated list, so there may be imperfections....but the dates should be readable
