Latest Satellite Global Average Tropospheric Temperatures

"Since 1979, NOAA satellites have been carrying instruments which measure the natural microwave thermal emissions from oxygen in the atmosphere. The intensity of the signals these microwave radiometers measure at different microwave frequencies is directly proportional to the temperature of different, deep layers of the atmosphere. Every month, John Christy and I update global temperature datasets (see here that represent the piecing together of the temperature data from a total of fourteen instruments flying on different satellites over the years.

As of June 2013, the Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit (AMSU-A) flying on NASA’s Aqua satellite has been removed from the processing due to spurious warming and replaced by the average of the NOAA-15, NOAA-18, NOAA-19, and Metop-A AMSUs. The graph above represents the latest update; updates are usually made within the first week of every month. Contrary to some reports, the satellite measurements are not calibrated in any way with the global surface-based thermometer records of temperature. They instead use their own on-board precision redundant platinum resistance thermometers (PRTs) calibrated to a laboratory reference standard before launch."

IPCC chair Rajendra Pachauri resigns

High profile head of the UN’s climate science panel steps down and denies charges of sexually harassing a 29-year-old female researcher

Stopping Mr Pachauri wandering the planet in CO2 belching jets, and female employees, should help save the planet.

"Speaking of Dr Pachauri, in his resignation letter as head of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, he gave the game away:

For me the protection of Planet Earth, the survival of all species and sustainability of our ecosystems is more than a mission. It is my religion and my dharma.

Actually, it's supposed to be science, and such authority as the IPCC has derives from the imprimatur of science. But the guy who's run it for the past 13 years says it's his religion, and he's right: it's the established church of progressive transnationalism. Nice to have the point conceded.

~Still, you have to feel sorry for the hapless Michael E Mann. Three years ago, he launched his defamation suit against me because he was outraged that CEI's Rand Simberg had made a "knowingly false comparison" between climate science and sexual molestation. Mr Simberg was speaking metaphorically - a literary device apparently unknown to Michael E Mann. If you had said to me at the time that the head guy of the Big Climate establishment would turn out to be an actual sexual molester, I would have thought it statistically improbable. But there seems to be a near 97 per cent consensus

Just to be clear, if you win a Nobel Peace Prize, you get invited to Oslo to meet an individual of Norway and receive a Nobel Medal.

If you win a fake Michael E Mann Nobel Prize, you wind up like Mann with a piece of paper run off at the IPCC branch of Kinko's signed by a sex offender. Dr Mann's (since withdrawn) original complaint argued that it's totally unacceptable to compare a Nobel Prize winner with a sex fiend. But in fact he has the only Nobel Prize that has ever been handed out by a sex fiend. What are the odds of that?"

GREEN ENERGY - HOW THE POOR SUBSIDISE THE RICH

"They were hailed by the Government as “a new stage in Britain's green energy investment boom”: five big new offshore wind farm projects, awarded £12 billion in subsidy contracts less than a year ago.

But this week, evidence is expected to emerge that the prices handed to the projects were too generous – saddling consumers with millions of pounds in needlessly high energy bill levies for 15 years to come.

The National Audit Office, Competition and Markets Authority and Public Accounts Committee have already warned that ministers may have signed consumers up to a bad deal because the contracts were awarded last April without proper competition."

Well, only big companies can afford to build offshore wind farms. And we all know how large companies can lobby to get there interests special consideration. Yes, competitive tenders should have been used. Of course, fossil fuels still receive 5-20 times more in subsidies than renewable energy ..... And Nuclear power, once claimed 'to be so cheap it wouldn't need to be metered' is still needing subsidies 60 years later .... and still no long term waste management anywhere in the world. Onshore wind is now cheaper than Nuclear power, as is solar power in some countries. In fact, when including all costs, onshore wind is only slightly more expensive than coal or gas.

Also, pollution from fossil fuels is rarely considered in costs. Gas and coal will still be the dominant sources of electricity for the next 20 years, but renewable sources will continue to grow and by 2050 will probably supply between 30-50% of all electricity. Of course, predicting the future is tricky, but if current trends and planned developments continue, very likely.

Climate alarmism rests on faith

AFTER two stints as pope of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Rajendra “Patchy” Pachauri has seized the opportunity of a pause in global warming to announce, first, his resignation and, second, his undying faith in the cause.

In a letter to be read from pulpits and weather stations across the world, Dr Pachauri vindicates the trust placed in him as pope of the IPCC by declaring that for him, “the protection of Planet Earth, the survival of all species and sustainability of our ecosystems is more than a mission. It is my religion and my dharma.”

It doesn’t take much faith in the scientific method to accept, as The Australian does, that during the past century or so industrial development and greenhouse gases have been associated with rising temperature. But it’s the overheated rhetoric on climate that shows we are often dealing with a dogmatic quasi-religion, not science.

Solar power had a good year in the UK in 2014. Installed capacity doubled, and made up 50% of all new renewable electricity generation capacity. In the first 9 months, renewable electricity generation provided 18% of all electricity, up from 14% in the previous year. At that rate of increase, renewable share could be over 40% by 2020.

Anyway, who cares about Pachauri? He was going to retire anyway. He was appointed to try and curb the scientists, but got converted to the global warming cause instead.

If it wasn't costing so much it would be funny

SESSIONS DISMANTLES EPA CHIEF FOR 'STUNNING' IGNORANCE
McCarthy unable to cite evidence of climate change
Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., went head-to-head with Environmental Protection Agency’s Gina McCarthy during a recent congressional hearing on climate change, ultimately telling the federal bureaucrat: It’s unbelievable you can’t guarantee if models have been accurate.

The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee hearing started tamely enough, with Sessions questioning the EPA’s request for a budget increase of 6 percent.
Sessions then raised the point that plenty of his constituents complain about the EPA’s “extraordinary overreach” and that he’d like McCarthy to address statistics on droughts, hurricanes and other weather events cited as evidence of climate change.

“I’m not inclined to increase your funding,” he said. “So now you say we’ve got a crisis and a danger out there. … [Yet a scientist found] we’ve had fewer droughts in recent years. Do you dispute that?”

But McCarthy couldn’t specify, AL.com reported.

“I don’t know in what context [a scientist] is in making statements like that,” she said.

An obviously frustrated Sessions jumped in and said, “Well, you need to know because you’re asking this economy to sustain tremendous costs,” the video showed.

McCarthy gave similar shoulder shrugs to other weather-related questions.

On hurricanes, McCarthy said: “I cannot answer that question. It’s a very complicated issue,” AL.com reported.

And on temperature, she said: “I do not know what the [temperature] models actually are predicting that you are referring to.”

Sessions ultimately asked: “Is the temperature increasing less than [models predict] or more than that?”

McCarthy’s reply?

“I cannot answer that,”

Sessions was shocked.

“This is a stunning development, that the head of the Environmental Protection Agency – who should know more than anybody else in the world, who is imposing hundreds of billions of dollars in cost to prevent this climate temperature increase – doesn’t know whether their projections have been right or wrong,”

TALK ABOUT LAUGH: HOW CHINA TURNED OBAMA INTO ITS USEFUL GREEN IDIOT

"What won’t get mentioned is that whether you believe in Catastrophic Man Made Warming or whether you don’t is a sublime irrelevance to this particular issue. Obama’s proposed carbon emissions reductions are the result of an “agreement” which turns out to be a lie and which will, if implemented, cause massive damage to the US economy to no useful purpose whatsover.

And yes, it really is that simple."

Now that it is widely know that the global warming hoax is a massive crony capitalism and socialist hoax, those mostly responsible must face criminal charge and be required to make restitution. Those scientists and others who have lost jobs and were black balled should be offered their old jobs and proper restitution made. It has cost the U.S. public at least trillions of dollars and worsened the lives of most of the people.

Grasping For Pause-ible Deniability On Climate Change

As the Earth’s temperature remains steady, believers double down on climate change.

"Climate change has a major problem on its hands: the Earth’s average surface temperature has failed to significantly increase in nearly two decades, and all this despite ever-increasing levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Now, after a roller coaster of emotions and barrage of media tantrums, it seems the issue is settled, sort of. In a recent paper in the journal Science, a team of researchers actually acknowledges the pause and attempts to explain it. But it’s not just any team—it includes prominent climate-change crusader and plaintiff to right-wing pundits Michael Mann.

Mann’s endorsement of a pause is about as close to acceptance as possible, the theological equivalent of Richard Dawkins saying, “Okay, so maybe there’s a God.” It was Mann that created the infamous “hockey stick” graph so often referenced by the climate-change crowd.

Don’t expect full acceptance anytime soon, however. In fact, a recent Nature paper defends the accuracy of the very models that failed to predict the very pause that didn’t exist that now does exist but only because the models were wrong. No, this is not a Zen koan: it’s modern climate science.

Another failed alarmist prediction:

Big call: Cambridge prof. predicts Arctic summer sea ice “all gone by 2015”

"Peter Wadhams, professor of ocean physics at Cambridge University, who was branded “alarmist” after he first detected “substantial thinning” of sea ice in 1990, said: “The entire ice cover is now on the point of collapse."

“The extra open water already created by the retreating ice allows bigger waves to be generated by storms, which are sweeping away the surviving ice. It is truly the case that it will be all gone by 2015. The consequences are enormous and represent a huge boost to global warming.”

He said that while reducing carbon emissions was the only solution, geo-engineering techniques – including one proposed by a Scottish professor – should be “urgently” explored.”"
