It is not over night
you have about 6 months or so
and I think they are serious about this
and the million or so that don't comply and are cut off
Well they will be in hurry to be compliant so they get reconnected or their lives will be ruined
Oh dear no phone

I would think as many as you want, you just need to register the Sims.

FYI Heads Up:
I have an AIS Air Card that has a SIM. The AIS store at Central Plaza told me that I would need to register that SIM also when my wife and I registered our Cell Phone SIMS.

If the government were really serious about this, they would stop SIM card sales by mom and pop stores and all the chain stores. You would have to buy and register a card at an authorized provider. To be able to keep your existing cards, you would register them at the same authorized providers. If a terrorist would happen to steal my wife's SIM card, they would certainly blow themselves up setting up their IED. You never know when her phone will ring. All you know for sure is that it will ring often.

Registered my SIM at True in the Complex yesterday.
I chose True as they are my service provider & that office has proved patient & helpful to me in the past. :D

Gave them my phone containing the SIM & my passport.
They activated some sort of Application on their smart phone, then entered a ussd code (I think 933, which shows the phone number) on my phone. Photographed the information on my phone screen & the picture page of my passport - job done...

Yesterday both my True sim cards quit working. I can still call but calls to me are blocked. Today the Dtac sim quit working. AIS is still working but maybe they have not gotten around to stopping that one yet. What a pain in the A$$.

Apparently they have decided to go ahead with this B$ VERY early and NOT in July. It really irritated me because I thought the phone had a problem and did a factory reset. I had to set up the phone and download all my APP's again. It WASN'T the phone.

Took my phone and passport to AIS in Central Plaza on Friday, a couple of signature's on a form, and one on my passport photo page copied on the photocopier (no surprise there). Took less than ten minutes.

Sources in the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) told Dawn on Monday that 25 million SIMs which could not be verified had been blocked.

This will happen here in thailand in july

First floor up, same floor as all the computer shops.
As far as I can remember nearly all the ISP providers have large shops there, towards the back entrance not the front of the building.
I have only dealt with the True office on that floor - excellent service, although only 1 or 2 English speaking staff, they could not have been more helpful to me whenever I have used them..
