They found Cairns not guilty.

Extraordinary. From afar that seems very surprising. Presumably he put on a good show when testifying. The usual rule is the defendant doesn't give evidence unless it's likely he's going to be convicted if he doesn't give evidence. So it must have been close. Perhaps the evidence from his Aussie wife helped swing it.

I read he's heading back to Canberra where he lives. I hope the ATO (Australian Tax Office) have more success dealing with Cairns. For now he seems safe living in Australia?

Modi may be interested in some civil litigation:

"Early this morning, through his lawyer, Modi released a statement saying: "I am aware of the verdict at Southwark Crown Court. As you know I am limited in what I can say as I am restricted by the injunction put in place following the 2012 libel trial. I will consider how this affects my own civil claim against Mr Cairns in due course." "

I think Cairns is toast in NZ. Surely few here think he is other than what Fleming said - "dirty".

Thinking about it some more, the jury must have been unconvinced by Vincent despite some corroboration of parts of his evidence from other witnesses. Vincent is also burnt toast.

In the broader picture, cricket itself seems to have taken quite a knock. I suspect there's more than a bit of dodgy dealing in first class cricket. Perhaps not so much in international cricket as there are so many experts and media watching internationals.

Why take someone to court for perjury
Isn't that lying to the court
Don't all criminals do that
Doesn't the court start with a question "how do you plea, guilty or not guilty"
Cairn's first court case should have been enough "follow the money"
Vincent banked the money so he should be burnt toast

Bok's do go slow
72 overs for 72 runs
With a day to play
Going to be painfully long day in the field if that continues

Warnie is closing down his dodgy charity:

http://www.udonmap.com/udonthaniforum/p ... 49&t=35646

The link states:

"The closure also comes as the foundation continues to flout a state fundraising disclosure law which requires it to release more than a decade's worth of annual financial reports to Fairfax Media."

Hey Shane, that's not bloody cricket.

And the link goes on:

"The announcement comes as Warne is expected to depart for South Africa to participate in reality TV show I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here! this weekend.

Warne is believed to be receiving $2 million to be a contestant on the show."

Streuth that's not cricket either. $2 million bucks.

I think the browser Tor has mucked up the link - google Warne shuts controversial charity and The Age (an Aussie newspaper).

Warnie again behaving in a "not cricket" manner:

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-02-09/w ... ar/7153358

Marjamlew will be relieved he was never one of Warnie's team mates ...

Moving on from the greatest living Australian, the MCC looks at limiting bad behaviour from Aussies and other naughty boys:

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-02-10/r ... tion=sport

Red cards are to be trialled in cricket. The biggest boofheads in cricket might be caught by this.

P.S. My opening phrase wasn't referring to marjamlew. :D

A red card due to a Baggy Green:

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/ar ... d=11587468

That's probably still a criminal offence in much of Oz? Not so in NZ.

GT I have no doubt that Warnie is the greatest living cricketer....... and also by far the best player who has gone around in my lifetime.....BUT off the park he is a Dicchead, Sook and a Brainless lump of nonsense of the highest order. From the same camp as Hird and Carey - the untouchable, never my fault superstar - The golden children that OUR society creates because a fella bowls a decent flipper or kicks, runs and jumps better than anyone else can. His comments about Steve Waugh say everything you need to know about Warnie - what a flog!

No is the worlds greatest living cricketer, in that he is living and no other cricketer who is still alive, playing or retired is/was better than him in my opinion. Apologies to those that I never saw play - Sobers.

May have to add an apology to Adam Voges who had a better average than Bradman until he got out:

Voges’ average climbed as high as 105.58 during his 239-run effort against the Kiwis before falling caught and bowled to Mark Craig, taking his average to a more modest 97.46.
Voges is however ahead of Bradman when it comes to batting averages after 14 Tests, with The Don ‘only’ averaging 94.45 at that point in his career.http://www.foxsports.com.au/cricket/aus ... 0541409fe1

I think Warnie is currently one of the best entertainers in Australia. He must be watching Trump with interest. :D

I've significantly gone off cricket marjamlew. There's even been chat in NZ about Cairns resuming his cricket commentary career. He was lucky he didn't face a NZ jury. I'm still hopeful the ATO will do him for tax evasion. They ought to look at Warnie too.

Certainly a sensational effort by Voges, but

However Bradman is ahead of Voges when it comes to runs scored (1889 compared to 1267) and hundreds scored (eight, including three double-hundreds and a triple-hundred, compared to five, including one double-hundred) after 14 Tests

Also, has to continue for another 60 innings to beat the Don.

Hope he can do it though, because it will make for brilliant entertainment.
