Think were have to agree to disagree on this one Bob.
I don't think you can use last years performances to gauge how Rooney and Tevez would gell this year, because Rooney was playing in a different position then. All the time Utd had Ronaldo, Rooney was pushed out wide. Tevez was used to pick up the crums from Berbatov more than Rooney. By keeping Tevez, at least Utd would have had more options than they do now. What happens if Rooney has a long term injury?
Selling Ronaldo and not renewing Tevez's contract and replacing them with Owen and Obertan is, in my opinion, bad management, although in SAF's defence, neither player wanted to stay at Utd.

As I've said before its a shame United didnt get Torres when he was available for 20m four seasons ago, before he joined Liverpool.
At over 30m Berbatov has been a big big disappointment so far.....will he improve ??
They could certainly do with Tevez now but I read on BBC Sport that the total fee Citeh payed for him was well over 25m,in fact nearer 40m I believe, with all the "add ons.".....and he didnt want to stay at United.
The way things are with United and Liverpool, their American owners and their debts,it could well be that they wont have a decent side between them soon.
The balance of power in English football is certainly changing this season.

There was a prog on TV yesterday (which unfortunately I only managed to see bits of) that revealed that Man U have two seperate debts. The first was the usual football club debt, and the second was for something completely different. I didn't tune in until the "Accounting Expert" was having his say, but what appeared very worrying was the fact that the second debt was accruing intrest at nearly 15%, and that nothing was been paid to reduce the amount owed. The guy made the point that if it stayed the same as it has for the last three years, by 2017, the amount owed would be in excess of half a Billion pounds. Now I know 2017 is a few years off yet, but if they can't afford to pay it now (or at least the intrest on it), what chance have they got next year or the year after when it is even bigger.
And this is/was Britains "richest ?" club .......... what chance have the rest got? ........ what "hidden" debts have the other Top clubs got?

I did a link to this - I think in the "Rumors" thread. Yes, the Glasers, in effect, passed all their personal debts over to the club.  The accounting at Man U is based on the belief that they will win something every year, or, at the least, qualify for the later stages of Europe. Not a sound assumption for anyone who knows even a small amount about football. Manchester United, with it's original debt when they took over, with the football & commercial success that they have had should be worth tens of millions - it is not. I do not believe that this situation exists at any other club. Nearly everywhere else the owner(s) have used their personal wealth to support the club. At Man U the owners have used the wealth of the club to support their life style. :( :(

Stoke equalise in the 90th min, and then Dirk Kuyt hits the post with a header in the 96th min.
Final whistle goes and it's 1 - 1.

I'd be a little bit worried if I was a Utd fan.

What the Glazers have done is not illegal but morally indefensible imo.It was a very black day, indeed, when they got their sweaty mitts on Man Utd.They are even worse than Hicks and Gillett at Liverpool, which is saying something !
There is a lot of anti-Glazer feeling at Old Trafford now.Against Burnley a banner was unfurled and a lot of chanting against the current regime was heard.
But all is not lost.....According to the India Times some sheikhs from Qatar are interested in buying United for 1.2 billion pounds ! 8)
Apparently Qatar is set to bid for the 2022 World Cup and their is football fever in the state. It is thought the publicity of buying a big club like United would enhance their prospects of a successful bid.
So dont count on United playing the likes of Portsmouth and Liverpool in the Conference,in 10 years, just yet!
And what of Chelsea.....what if Abramovic gets fed up and calls in his huge interest free loan and starts looking for a new toy ? :-k

Wayne Rooneys goal in the third minute of injury time enabled Manchester United to beat Manchester City 3-1 and qualify for the final of the Carling Cup 4-3 on aggregate.
They will play Villa in the final with this competition looking like Uniteds best chance of picking up a trophy this season.

Everton 3 - 1 Man Utd
I know it might have been seen as a 'freak' result & earlier in the season a draw would have been viewed as a win by Everton, but i hardly think this comment is fair by the BBC.
Everton come from behind to continue their superb recent run with a deserved 2-2 victory over title-chasing Manchester United.

The toffees have had a bit of a much needed resurgence and some good results of late. It seems to me that the mid season signing of Donovan was a bit of a turning point for Moyes. To say United were not at their best could be said of them nearly every game this season, but they still manage to grind out results. Everton certainly look a far more competent side of late & were well worthy of this victory.
Arsenal & Chelsea both put in expected performances to win comfortably.
West Ham, at home, gave Hull a 3-0 thrashing. Hull are now starting to look drop candidates. 4th. from bottom, by 1 point over Bolton & Burnley who both have 2 games in hand. West Ham have rocketed up to 13th. Although, to be honest cannot feel anything like secure yet, a few wins or loses from them down could be delight or disaster.
Portsmouth continue to stay rooted to the bottom after a 1-2 loss at home to Stoke. They must now be almost certainties for the drop. Keeping them out of receivership & losing even more points in next years' Championship must be their main aim now. Stoke are sitting pretty in 11th. on 34 points & must feel that they are Premiership players again next season. In fairness they have shown themselves to be a solid, hard to beat side for most of the season.

I was unfortunate enough to watch the Everton v United match last night and Everton fully deserved their victory.
The match was good for the first 18 minutes and then that was it.
I returned home very sad and quite drunk.
This morning I woke up and wondered if it had all been a bad dream.
I logged into BBC-Sport-Football and I saw the 2-2 scoreline.....had United salvaged a point after all....no such luck.
I think Gary Nevilles career is coming to a close....excellent player in his time but injuries the last two seasons have done for him and at his age I dont think he will recapture his old form.
And the referee was very anti United.....only 3 minutes injury time.....we are used to at least double that ! 8)
