question?

Postby kopkei » January 18, 2011, 7:31 pm

as i was strolling to some old posts at the sports topic about swimming pools ,the link to the tanadorn place was blocked by my internet security, ( same as frans mentioned than ) , with the remark object is infected by Trojan-Clicker.JS.Agent.fg, as i first did not want to post this after some stupid remarks on my virus post before, well as this is against my nature , i post it anyway, if it is rubbish to you all delete the post again as i do not want to get stupid answers, neither i want anybody to get his computer infected by any of these things, btw i have original windows & internet security
i am sure bob will have an answer on this one..... ( even it is only me who is interested)
thanks...

It is quite possible that the Tanadorn place Web site has become inflected with a virus kopkei .
Or that your virus checker/internet browser thinks it has. There are some bits of script that people can add to their web sites that are not actually dangerous but the virus checkers/internet browsers don't like the look of them & err on the side of caution.
I will have a look later when I get a minute & see what my set up thinks of it..
Either way the good news is that you PC is doing what you want it to do & stopping your PC from becoming infected as well. :D
(p.s. It is not a stupid question)

Well I just tried to get on using this web address
http://www. tanadorn.com/
No problem at all for me.
I am using Windows 7 & the firewall & virus checker is handled by the Windows Security Essentials suite. My browser is Mozilla FireFox version 3.6.13.
Not a bad looking web site at all....

Strange Dermot..
IE can be a bit fussy I know....you could try FireFox or Google Chrome instead (although Chrome is a bit of a leech if you try to get rid of it).

I'm using legit Windows 7 pro and avast. I got a trojan horse warning with the site.
I search a boatload of websites each day......the only sites I get these warnings on are Thai (not all, of course). The computers of most Thais I know are infected, Fuji film computers used to be all infected, and I wouldn't trust a computer in an internet shop here with anything that I'd ever connect back to my computer.
I've heard some people say that my settings on avast are too sensitive........maybe so, but it's odd that I don't get the same warnings when I'm searching myriad other sites outside the country.

Stranger & stranger...
No attempt to stop me signing on the site.
WOT did not show a threat.
Have run Security Essentials scan & a Malwarebytes scan not a hint of a problem after accessing the site...

It is however, either a genuine virus or a piece of script(looks like repeated in 4 places from Dermot's report) that is giving a 'false positive'. Either way, if anyone knows anyone connected to Tanadorn it would be a good idea to tell them. As the site is not worth much as an advertising tool as it stands, virused up or not!!

(p.s. Parrot my Win 7 is legit...how I got hold of it might not be, but that is a different story!! :D )

Thanks Alchai...the definition of that is...
Description: VirTool:JS/Obfuscator.H are detections for programs that have had their purpose obfuscated to hinder analysis or detection by antivirus or security scanners.

So it is not definitely a virus, just a bit of script that the virus checker cannot examine to determine its purpose...
Still not really something anyone wanting visitors to their site would really need or want on it though I think.

By the way the quoted words are Microsofts . I sort of knew what "obfuscated" meant but thought I would look it up to make sure...
1. to confuse, bewilder, or stupefy.

Was there ever a word created that better explained its meaning within its self?? :D

Re: question?

Looks like an "iframe" problem on their homepage, something their programmer could sort out quickly. An iframe simply inserts a separate "frame" or field within a page, and can cause problems like this. As Bob says, not malicious, just uhhh inadvertent, let's say.

Seems some old pages are still on the server though that you could surf and check out if you like: http://www. tanadorn.com/navigator.html

Problem is many people don't ever really check out their own websites; amazing but true. Or they use one browser - like Firefox - which is great, except that most people in the world are still stuck in Explorerland, and know no better.

So like it or not, anyone building a site needs to test it in a variety of browsers to make sure it works in all of them.

I've known people to go a long, long time without knowing that 70% of the people going to their site could not even see or load their homepage - and they're wondering why their stats are so low...

Someone should tell them about this.
